Ride Assault — Headless Rider

The fastest free S-Rank Arc in the game. A bike chase, a tunnel, a Psyche-weak boss who barely changes phase, and Hathor's BiS Arc drops in your inventory. Lock City Tycoon Level 3, get in a 4-wheeled vehicle, and roll up to Bridge Crossings at 8 PM.

TL;DR — 5 Steps

  1. Hit City Tycoon Level 3The anomaly is locked behind the city-tycoon progression track. If the Headless Rider does not spawn, this gate is the most common cause.
  2. Drive a 4-wheeled vehicleMotorcycles and mopeds do NOT trigger the encounter. Hop in a car — borrow an NPC's if you don't own one.
  3. Set the clock to ~20:00Around 8:15 PM the Headless Rider patrols the strip of road between Davidia Avenue and Fox Window Street.
  4. Chase to the tunnelTail him at full throttle. The chase scripts you into the tunnel — at the far end the anomaly realm loads automatically.
  5. Bring Psyche + break supportFadia/Aurelia/Haniel for Psyche damage, Daffodill for the Break bar. Parry the chained slashes, dodge the phantom charges.

How to Trigger the Encounter

Three gates need to clear before the Headless Rider patrol spawns: City Tycoon Level 3, a 4-wheeled vehicle, and the in-game clock at roughly 20:00. If any one is missing you can drive the corridor all night without seeing him.

  1. Push your city progression up to City Tycoon Level 3. The route appears on your tracker once the level rolls over — no need to leave the city to verify.
  2. Equip or jump into any 4-wheeled vehicle. Cars and small trucks both work; motorcycles and 2-wheel vehicles do not satisfy the trigger flag.
  3. Travel to Bridge Crossings and head to the corridor that runs between Davidia Avenue and Fox Window Street. The stretch is straight, well-lit, and easy to identify by the central reservation.
  4. Wait until the in-game clock crosses 20:00 (most reliable around 20:15). Use a bench, a property bed, or simply idle in the car.
  5. Drive along that stretch at moderate speed. The Headless Rider materialises ahead of you on his flaming motorcycle — the chase cutscene auto-triggers as you close distance.
  6. Pursue him at full throttle. Lose visual contact for too long and the chase ends — the road is straight enough that staying glued to his rear bumper is easy.
  7. At the tunnel end, the screen blacks out and you land inside the Anomaly Realm with the boss arena loaded. Combat begins immediately — make sure your team is preset before the trigger.

Boss: Headless Rider

Internal name: Headless Biker. A boss built around mobility and break-bar timing. Phase 1 is a clean parry/dodge dance on his bike-based slashes. Phase 2 (low HP) makes him orbit the arena and summon phantom riders that charge along telegraphed lines. The Discord Esper Cycle is the fastest way to crack his break bar and keep DPS uptime steady.

Tell: He raises his sword horizontally before a 2- or 3-hit sweep from the bike seat.

Each hit of the chain has its own parry window. Fishing for one parry per attack refunds Critical Dodge resource and re-opens the burst window.

Tell: A short crouch on the bike, followed by a forward dash. The damage hit lands at the end of the dash, not the start.

Side-stepping works because the strike is single-target — parrying it is rewarded with extra stagger.

Phantom charge (Phase 2)

Tell: The boss leaves the arena floor and spectral riders spawn around the perimeter. Each phantom paints a charge line on the ground.

Multiple phantoms can charge simultaneously. Dodge perpendicular to whichever line is closest to your position — sprinting is faster than the dodge animation in a pinch.

Tell: He plants the motorcycle and revs — a circular shockwave radius paints under his bike.

Wait for the shockwave to start expanding before you commit a dodge — early i-frames burn before the hit lands.

Stain reaction stacks DoT under heavy Psyche pressure. Hathor batteries the burst window even though her Lakshana profile isn't the weakness — the speed of her stack generation more than compensates.

Drop rate on repeat clears is shared with the rest of the rotation loot. Farm Ride Assault on weekly cadence rather than spamming — your Annulith time is better spent elsewhere once you have the M0 copy.

Pro Tips & Common Pitfalls

  • Set your in-game clock 30 min before 20:00, then drive into Bridge Crossings while it ticks over. Reaching the corridor exactly at 20:15 in the wrong vehicle wastes the spawn window.
  • Lose the chase? You don't lose much — drive back, wait for the next 20:00 cycle, retry. The boss respawns once the day clock advances.
  • The Headless Rider does not gain new attacks at low HP, only quantity. Phase 2 is the same kit with phantom charges layered on top — don't over-prepare for a moveset shift that never comes.
  • Discord Cycle deals more break-bar damage than raw Psyche. If you don't have the Discord profile available, swap to Stain — the break bar still falls, just slower.
  • Hathor in the team during Ride Assault is a real flex: her presence isn't optimal damage-wise (Lakshana is not the weakness), but she's the one who eventually receives the Arc you're farming. Bring her if you're sentimental.
