Mint Guide

CSU-2's spinning containment ace: a 4★ Anima melee Main DPS who widens the shared Blossom field and finishes packs with a tornado. The best free Anima carry for a Blossom core — strong F2P value, but an A-tier ceiling, not an S pick.

Ratings

  • Bossing
  • AoE / Groups
  • Sustained DMG
  • As Free Unit
  • Ease of Use
  • F2P Friendly

Contextual: best as a free unit and for F2P, solid in AoE, capped on bossing and sustained damage by her 4★ rarity ceiling.

Community read — ZeroLuck tier-vote, Patch 1.0 (live, n=19 votes across roles): DPS A 2.86/5 (14 votes) · Hybrid A 2.67/5 (3) · Support C 0.5/5 (2). She is the best free 4★ Anima DPS, but with an A-tier ceiling — not S — and the hybrid / support entries are flex-role noise, not a real second job.

Trend: no recent tier shift in the DPS role — she is stable in the current patch. Watch the live tier list for the up-to-date standing.

Strengths

  • Best free Anima Main DPS for a Blossom-field core
  • Real AoE — the Minty Whirlwind tornado clears packs
  • Defensive passive (+20% DEF, +30% Interruption resist)
  • No awakenings needed — works from skill levels alone
  • Game-recommended arc + clear stat path from the data

Weaknesses

  • Hard 4★ power ceiling — not an endgame carry
  • Amplifies a Blossom field, does not build one alone
  • Minty Whirlwind hold is stamina-gated
  • On-field melee — must stay in and survive to deal damage

Gameplay — Blossom Field & the Spin

Mint is an on-field melee carry built around a shared mechanic, not a solo nuke. Her job is to spin inside a Blossom field and finish with her Ultimate. The loop is seed the field → buff → spin → cash out the Ultimate.

Blossom is a shared system, not Mint's gimmick

  • Vita Bud / Vita Pistils — a team-wide NTE Anima field deployed by several Espers (Nanally, Jiuyuan…), not unique to Mint
  • Transform! Super Mint! — her contribution is widening the Pistil hit area, so she amplifies an existing field
  • Bingo! We're Done Here! — +20% DEF and +30% Interruption resist keep a melee carry alive mid-spin

The honest read: Mint is a great free piece of a Blossom team, not a standalone power carry. With Blossom support (Nanally, Jiuyuan) she is one of the best 4★ Anima options in Version 1.0. Without that field her Enhancement passive has nothing to amplify and she is just a melee 4★.

Skills

Upgrade priority

  1. Thunderous Whirlwind Slash
  2. Super Claws
  3. Perfect Containment
  4. Invincible Tornado Slash

Ultimate

Ultimate: Thunderous Whirlwind Slash

A wide spinning Anima burst — her single biggest damage instance and the payoff of a Blossom rotation. Level this first: it both clears packs and is the moment your accumulated field setup cashes out. Open it once Vita Pistils are seeded and an Anima support buff is live.

Skill

Ultimate: Super Claws

Her core Anima Skill — the main rotational hit between Normal Attack chains. Fast enough to weave on cooldown, this is what keeps Anima DMG flowing and feeds the Blossom field while you wait for the Ultimate to come back up.

Normal Attack

Perfect Containment

Standard Anima melee string. Hold it for Minty Whirlwind — she spins into a tornado that drains stamina and deals continuous Anima DMG to everything around her. The hold is real AoE pressure, but watch stamina: an empty bar drops you out of the spin mid-pack.

Chain Skill

Ultimate: Invincible Tornado Slash

A swap-in Anima strike. It only lands at the moment Mint rotates onto the field, so it is the lowest upgrade priority — level it last after the three core skills are maxed.

Passive

Transform! Super Mint!

Blossom Enhancement: expands the Vita Pistils damage area on hit. Blossom / Vita Pistils / Vita Bud is a shared NTE Anima field system — the same one Nanally, Jiuyuan and others build around — so Mint is a contributor to a Blossom team's field pressure, not just a solo carry. A wider Pistil area means more multi-target uptime in any Blossom lineup.

Passive

Bingo! We're Done Here!

While Mint is on the field, +20% DEF and +30% Interruption resistance. This is her survivability floor: she is a melee carry who has to stay in to spin, and the Interruption resistance is what lets the Minty Whirlwind hold survive being hit. It is defensive, not offensive — do not expect a damage line here.

Skill scaling — Lv 1 → Lv 11

Real damage ratios (% of ATK) from the in-game codex. As a 4★ she has no awakenings — leveling her skills (and especially her Ultimate Slash) is the only real way to scale her ceiling.

Sourcing: every row above is read verbatim from the imported scaling tables in games/nte/data/character-details/en/mint.json — fields skills[].scalingTable[i].formatted[0] (Lv 1) and [10] (Lv 11). Mint has no awakening tree (4★ Esper), but her skills do have a full scaling table — these are the real numbers, not estimates.

No Awakenings: Mint is a 4★ Esper, and awakenings (A1–A8) are a 5★-only system in NTE. There is no awakening tree to prioritise — her progression is level, skill levels, arc, cassette and the Blossom team around her. This is correct for her rarity, not a gap in this guide.

Cassette Set & Stats

  • 2-piece: Anima DMG +10%
  • 4-piece: +8% wearer CRIT DMG when a nearby enemy takes Anima DMG from the team, up to 7 stacks (10s each, persists off-field)

Tailor-made for a Blossom carry: the 2-piece amplifies her element, and the 4-piece CRIT DMG stacks ramp from the Anima DMG a Blossom field puts out continuously.

  • 2-piece: ATK +10%
  • 4-piece: +25% ATK for 20s after casting a Skill

Generic offensive alternative. She casts Super Claws every rotation, so the 4-piece uptime is reliable — a safe set while farming Fireflies.

Anima · Liquid. Melee spin carry who widens the Blossom field via her Vita Pistils Enhancement. Stays on-field, so she needs the team to keep her alive while she spins.

Nanally
NanallyBlossom DPS

Anima · Plasma. Her passive “More Than Passionate” turns each Vita Bud into 10 Vita Pistils on a 1s interval — the heaviest Blossom-field contributor in the game. Her A6 “Because We’re Family” extends Authority to 15s (20s out of combat), and A1 “Gang Formation” feeds +2.5 Ultimate Energy per follow-up — every extra second of Authority is more Vita Pistil pressure Mint’s tornado damages enemies inside of.

Jiuyuan
JiuyuanBlossom control

Anima · Solid. Spawns extra Vita Buds and raises the field limit, plus binds Pistil-hit targets via Lethal Rose Pact. A2 “Intel Turns Into Blades” adds +100% Lethal Rose Pact DMG Ratio, and A8 “Unhindered Passage” reduces Anima RES of bound targets by 10% — both lines stack directly on every Anima tick Mint deals while she holds Minty Whirlwind inside the grouped Blossom field.

Edgar
EdgarSustain / utility

Cosmos · Liquid. Healer who lets a melee Mint stay in and keep spinning. A4 “Skilled Strategist” adds +50% Wild Current DMG, and A6 “Visitor from Planet Curiosity” grants +15% DEF to allies in Finnegan’s Wake — combined with Mint’s passive +20% DEF / +30% Interruption resistance, this is the layer that keeps the Minty Whirlwind hold from getting knocked out of stance mid-pack.

Optimal Rotation

  1. Seed the Blossom field

Bring in your Blossom contributors (Nanally / Jiuyuan) first to deploy Vita Buds and Vita Pistils. Mint's passive widens the Pistil area, so she amplifies a field that already exists — set it up before she carries.

  2. Layer an Anima buff

Cast your support / damage-boost ally (e.g. Hotori's Blossom Enhancement / damage aura) so Mint's burst lands into an amplified window rather than a flat one.

  3. Mint — Skill + Normal Attack pressure

Swap to Mint, weave Ultimate: Super Claws on cooldown and hold Perfect Containment for the Minty Whirlwind tornado. Keep an eye on stamina — the hold drains it and an empty bar ends the spin early.

  4. Mint — Ultimate cash-out

With Pistils seeded and the Anima buff live, fire Ultimate: Thunderous Whirlwind Slash. This is her single biggest instance — never open it on a bare field or before the buff window.

  5. Rotate and re-seed

Swap back out to refresh the Blossom field and the support buff, then return to Mint for the next Skill / Ultimate window. The loop is field-first, Mint-second, every time.

Golden rule: never open her Ultimate on a bare field — seed Blossom and the Anima buff first, or you waste her biggest instance.

Should You Use Her?

Use her if…

  • You want a free / low-rarity Anima Main DPS that slots into a Blossom team
  • You already run Blossom-field units (Nanally / Jiuyuan) and want a melee finisher
  • AoE and pack content is your focus — the Minty Whirlwind tornado is real clear
  • You are early game and need a budget carry that does not need awakenings to function
  • You like an on-field, hands-on melee playstyle over swap-cancel rotations

Skip her if…

  • You want a top-tier endgame carry — as a 4★ she has a hard power ceiling
  • You have no Blossom-field support — her passive amplifies a field she does not build
  • You dislike stamina management — the Minty Whirlwind hold is stamina-gated
  • You already own a built 5★ Anima DPS doing the same job better
  • You expected awakenings to scale her — 4★ Espers in NTE have none

New / casual players: Mint is one of the best early-game Anima carries you can get. The tornado AoE, on-field melee feel and defensive passive make her forgiving and fun, and she needs no awakenings to perform. A genuinely strong free pick for story and mid difficulty.

F2P / low-spend: excellent value. As a 4★ she is easy to obtain, runs a farmable 4★ arc (Clear Skies), and slots straight into a Blossom core with Nanally / Jiuyuan. For free players she is one of the most accessible Anima Main DPS options in the game.

Invested / endgame: here the honest answer is her ceiling. As a 4★ with no awakenings she will be outscaled by a built 5★ Anima carry in the hardest content. She remains a perfectly good Blossom contributor and bench piece — just not the one carrying your top-tier clears.

Bottom line: the best free Anima Main DPS for a Blossom team, which the community rates DPS A — great starter and F2P value, with a clear and honest A-tier ceiling. Build her early, lean on her for story and mid content, and graduate her to a 5★ when endgame demands it.

FAQ

Is Mint good in NTE?

For a 4★ Esper, yes — she is a solid budget Anima Main DPS, especially as a melee finisher inside a Blossom-field team. But she has a 4★ power ceiling: she does not compete with built 5★ Anima carries in endgame, and she has no awakenings to scale her. She is a strong early/free pick, not a long-term meta carry.

Why does Mint have no Awakenings?

Because she is a 4★ Esper. In NTE, awakenings (A1–A8) are a 5★-only progression system — 4★ characters like Mint have no awakening tree at all in the data. Her power comes entirely from level, skill levels, her arc, cassette and the Blossom team around her. That is normal for her rarity, not a missing feature.

What is the best Arc for Mint?

Clear Skies — and that is the game's own recommendation in her cultivation data. It is a 4★ Liquid arc with an ATK% sub-stat, which suits her flat Anima scaling and needs no upkeep. Shiny Days (4★ Liquid, ATK%) is an interchangeable alternative; Youthful Fantasy (5★ Liquid, ATK%) is a ceiling raise only if you already own it — not worth pulling for a 4★.

What is the best Cassette Set for Mint?

Fireflies and the Forest 4-piece. The 2-piece is Anima DMG +10% (her element); the 4-piece grants up to 7 stacks of +8% CRIT DMG when a nearby enemy takes Anima DMG from the team — which a Blossom field does constantly — and it persists off-field. Shadow Creed (ATK +10% / +25% ATK after a Skill) is the generic alternative.

What stats should I prioritise on Mint?

Straight from her in-game recommended attributes: Anima DMG > CRIT Rate > CRIT DMG > Universal DMG Bonus > ATK% > ATK. Standard DPS spread — Anima DMG and crit lead, with ATK% and ATK as the flat scaling floor.

What is the Blossom / Vita Pistils system?

Blossom is a shared NTE Anima field mechanic — Vita Buds and Vita Pistils deployed on the battlefield that deal Anima DMG. It is not unique to Mint: Nanally, Jiuyuan, Edgar and Hotori all interact with the same system. Mint's role in it is a Blossom Enhancement passive that widens the Vita Pistils hit area, so she amplifies a Blossom field rather than building one alone.

Is Mint F2P-friendly?

Very. As a 4★ she is far easier to obtain than a 5★, needs no awakenings to function, and pairs with a farmable 4★ arc (Clear Skies). She is one of the most accessible Anima Main DPS options for free players who already have a Blossom support core.

Is she worth using for casual / story play?

Yes — this is exactly her lane. Her tornado AoE, on-field melee style and defensive passive (+20% DEF, +30% Interruption resist) make her a forgiving, low-investment carry that clears story and mid difficulty comfortably. The 4★ ceiling only matters in the hardest endgame content.
