Chiz Guide

The Pink Paws lobby manager: a 5★ Cosmos Main DPS and one of the community's top-tier carries in Patch 1.0, running the deepest resource economy in Version 1.0 — bank Grain, open the Grain Market, cash out a guaranteed-crit Settlement — while passively battering the whole team with Ultimate Energy. High skill floor, elite ceiling.

Ratings

  • Bossing
  • AoE / Groups
  • Sustained DMG
  • As Battery
  • Ease of Use
  • F2P Friendly

Contextual: elite as a boss carry and team battery, but the lowest Ease of Use in 1.0 — the Grain Market loop is demanding.

Community read — ZeroLuck tier-vote, Patch 1.0 (live, n=40 votes across roles): DPS SS 4.77/5 (35 votes) · Hybrid A 3.33/5 (3) · Support C 0.5/5 (2). The vote is overwhelmingly a pure DPS pick (n=35) — the flex roles are too small a sample to read into.

Trend: she recently shifted Hybrid S → A in the rolling tier movement, and the community gave her her first Support C placement — both are confirmation she is voted as a single-role DPS, not a flex unit. Her DPS SS standing is unchanged. Watch the live tier list for the current standing.

Strengths

  • Very high damage ceiling via the Grain Market dump window
  • Guaranteed-crit Settlement makes CRIT DMG scaling extremely efficient
  • Passive team Ultimate-Energy battery (Hanahaki) on top of damage
  • A8 shreds Cosmos RES — a personal and mono-Cosmos team multiplier
  • Game-recommended arc + clear stat path straight from the data

Weaknesses

  • Highest skill floor in 1.0 — a mistimed window wastes a rotation
  • Leans hard on A5 to fix a slow opening Grain ramp
  • Best arc (Contemplative Cat) has no farmable 5★ substitute
  • Synergy ceiling needs a Cosmos / Charge team to be realised

Gameplay — Grain & the Grain Market

Chiz runs the heaviest resource economy in the game. Basic attacks bank Grain; Pink Paws Priority Principle spends it as Grain-scaled bonus Cosmos damage. Zero-Sum Game opens the Grain Market (7s) where the first Settlement is a guaranteed Crit. The loop is always bank Grain → open Market → dump in Surplus.

Why she is also a battery

  • Hanahaki Disease — Charge Enhancement: active characters gain +4 Ultimate Energy
  • Hoarding — +20% Chiz Charge Efficiency on field, speeding her own Grain Market cadence
  • Homecoming (A8) — her damage shreds 10% of the target's Cosmos Esper RES, helping a mono-Cosmos line

That is the key decision with Chiz: raw carry or Cosmos/Charge anchor. Solo, the Grain Market dump is her damage. Slotted next to a Cosmos buffer like Hotori and a Charge user, her battery and RES shred lift the whole team — meet that condition and she is a premier S-tier carry, ignore it and you are paying a steep skill cost for solo numbers.

Skill

Pink Paws Priority Principle

The Grain-spending engine. Stacks up to 3 Redirect charges and casts No Grain / Half Grain / Full Grain in sequence, each dealing bonus Cosmos DMG scaled off the current Grain count (these instances cannot Crit). Hold to consume Grain continuously for sustained bonus damage. In the Surplus state (post-ultimate) it converts banked Grain into a damage dump. This is where almost all of Chiz's payoff comes out.

Ultimate

Zero-Sum Game

AoE Cosmos DMG, then enters the Grain Market for 7s. The first Grain Settlement during this window is a guaranteed Crit, all Grain Loans convert into Grains, and you enter the Surplus state. This is the peak window: open it with a full Grain bank and immediately dump via the Skill for the guaranteed-crit Settlement.

Normal Attack

Exiled Swordplay

Up to a 5-hit Cosmos combo that grants Grain on hit. Blighted Vale (a branch attack / Boba throw) grants extra Grain and Fons; Bountiful Grain is a fall-scaling plunge (up to +100%); Minsky Moment is the post-dodge counter that reduces Break and grants Grain. This is purely your Grain generator — you bank here, then spend on the Skill.

Chain Skill

Temporary Entry

A swap-in Boba crash for 1 instance of Cosmos DMG. Cheap filler and a clean way to chip damage while rotating Chiz in. Lowest upgrade priority.

Passive

Hanahaki Disease

Charge Enhancement: grants active characters 4 additional Ultimate Energy. This plugs her into NTE's shared Charge system — the same mechanic Edgar builds around — so on a team that wants fast ultimates Chiz is a passive energy battery on top of her own damage, not only a solo carry.

Passive

Hoarding

+20% Chiz Charge Efficiency while on the field. Speeds up her own Zero-Sum Game cadence — more Grain Market windows, more guaranteed-crit Settlements, faster Surplus dumps.

Skill scaling — Lv 1 → Lv 11

Real damage ratios (% of ATK) from the in-game codex. Full-Grain Pink Paws and Zero-Sum Game are the two biggest payoffs per book; Skill and Ultimate are the priority leveling targets.

Hanahaki Disease and Hoarding have no scalingTable in the imported codex — Hanahaki passively gifts +4 Ultimate Energy to the active character (a team-wide flat number, not a multiplier), and Hoarding is a flat +20% Charge Efficiency while she is on field. Only the rows above benefit from skill books.

Awakenings

Priority: A5 → A6 → A8 → A4 → A3 → A2, then A1 / A7. She functions at A0 but the slow opening Grain ramp is a real pain until A5 fixes it. A6 then layers a near-flat damage multiplier on the Grain-scaled output that is her entire kit.

S

A5

Blank Diary Pages

Grants Grain equal to 100% of the storage limit the moment combat starts. Removes her single biggest weakness — the slow opening Grain ramp — letting her dump damage immediately. The biggest practical jump on her chart.

S

A6

Thirty-Three Days

+15% bonus Cosmos DMG from Grain. Since virtually all of her output is Grain-scaled bonus damage, this is a near-flat damage multiplier — the cleanest pure-DPS line she has.

A

A8

Homecoming

Dealing damage to a target reduces its Cosmos Esper RES by 10%. Effectively a personal multiplier on all her Cosmos damage and a small team benefit on a mono-Cosmos line.

A

A4

To Riceball, Bandage, Fons

+20% Grain acquisition efficiency. More Grain per cycle directly means bigger Grain-scaled Skill hits — it widens every damage line she has.

B

A3

If There Were No Rainy Days

+50% chance of a Grain Price increase. Higher Grain Price means a bigger Grain Settlement payout — strong but variance-y, hence below the flat lines.

B

A2

Fireworks in Silence

Gains 10% of current Grain as interest per second in the Surplus state. Compounds the post-ultimate dump window; good once the S/A lines are in.

C

A1

Sun, Sun… speak to me!

+10% Grain and Grain Loan storage capacity. A small ceiling raise on the bank size — quality of life, low priority alone.

C

A7

Friends and Family

+50% extra Grain acquisition in the Debt state. Niche — only relevant when running the Grain Loan / Debt sub-loop. Unlock late.

Cassette Set & Stats

  • 2-piece: Cosmos DMG +10%
  • 4-piece: Ignores 25% of enemy DEF for 20s after casting Ultimate (does not stack)

Tailor-made for her: the 2-piece amplifies her element and the 4-piece's post-Ultimate DEF ignore lines up exactly with the Grain Market window where she does her biggest damage.

  • 2-piece: ATK +10%
  • 4-piece: +25% ATK for 20s after casting a Skill

Generic offensive fallback. Chiz casts Pink Paws Priority Principle constantly, so the post-Skill 4-piece uptime is reliable — a safe set while farming Lost Radiance.

Cosmos · Gas. Banks Grain on her combo, dumps it through Pink Paws Priority Principle, and opens Zero-Sum Game for the guaranteed-crit Settlement — while Hanahaki passively feeds the whole team Ultimate Energy.

Hotori
HotoriCosmos buff

Cosmos damage-boost support. Her A8 (Ultimate Treasure of Clear Understanding) grants the team a flat +20% ATK while she's on the team and alive — that lands directly on every Pink Paws ratio (lv11 61.1% + 90.2% ×3 at Full Grain) and the Zero-Sum Game Settlement hit (lv11 598.2%). A5 also adds +15% team DMG against a lone target — exactly the boss-pin scenario Chiz wants.

Edgar
EdgarCharge / healer

Cosmos healer that also runs Charge Enhancement. His A1 (Anomaly-Loving Observer) banks a Key of Truth on every teammate Support Skill — Chiz's Temporary Entry chain triggers that — and his A6 hands the team +15% DEF inside Finnegan's Wake, keeping the line alive through Chiz's long on-field Grain Market window without losing a damage slot.

Zero
ZeroCosmos sub-DPS

Cosmos burst sub-DPS. His A8 (Zero Display) grants the team +7% ATK for 20s after any Cosmos Esper Cycle trigger, and A5 (Theopneustos) self-buffs another +15% ATK on the same trigger. Both fire off Chiz's Cosmos rotation, stacking permanent ATK on the team while Hanahaki's +4 Ultimate Energy speeds his own Divide by Zero — a clean energy-and-buff loop.

Optimal Rotation

  1. Bank Grain

Open with Exiled Swordplay; every hit grants Grain. Use Blighted Vale for extra Grain and Fons, and Minsky Moment off a Critical Dodge for the Break reduction. With A5 you start combat already at the Grain cap and can skip the ramp entirely.

  2. Build Skill charges

Let Pink Paws Priority Principle accumulate its 3 Redirect charges while you keep generating Grain. Do not spend them yet — you want a full bank and full charges before the ultimate.

  3. Zero-Sum Game

Open the Grain Market with Zero-Sum Game. The first Grain Settlement is a guaranteed Crit, Grain Loans convert to Grain, and you enter the Surplus state. This is your 7s peak window.

  4. Dump in Surplus

Immediately spend Pink Paws Priority Principle. The Grain-scaled bonus damage cashes out at the guaranteed-crit Settlement; with A6 (+15% Grain DMG) and A8 (Cosmos RES shred) this is the bulk of her damage.

  5. Rebuild & battery

Outside the window, rebuild Grain and let Hanahaki keep feeding 4 Ultimate Energy to the team. Hoarding (+20% Charge Efficiency) gets your next Zero-Sum Game online fast — repeat the loop.

Golden rule: never open Zero-Sum Game without a full Grain bank and Skill charges ready to dump.

Should You Pull?

Pull if…

  • You want a 5★ Cosmos Main DPS with a high-skill resource economy
  • You run or plan a Cosmos core (Hotori) — she scales and shreds Cosmos RES
  • You like a build-bank → ultimate window → guaranteed-crit dump payoff
  • You value a carry that also batteries the whole team's Ultimate Energy
  • Boss and grouped content is your focus — the Grain Market window shines there

Skip if…

  • You want plug-and-play damage — the Grain / Grain Market loop is the hardest in 1.0
  • You will not run A5 — the unfixed early Grain ramp makes her slow to come online
  • You have no Cosmos payoff and no Charge-team need — her synergy goes unused
  • You are strictly F2P on arcs — Contemplative Cat needs a pull, only a 4★ is farmable

New / casual players: Chiz is the hardest carry to pilot in 1.0 — the Grain Market window punishes mistimes hard, and a simpler unit clears story and mid difficulty with far less effort. If you are new, pull her for the long game, not for an easy first carry.

F2P / low-spend: her A0 kit works, but she leans on A5 more than most carries (it removes her slow opening ramp) and her best arc (Contemplative Cat) is a banner pull — only the 4★ Cosmos Daze is farmable. F2P players accept a slower opening; the loop still pays off, just less smoothly.

Invested / endgame: this is where she shines. With A5 + A6, Contemplative Cat and Lost Radiance her Grain Market dump is one of the highest single-target payoffs in the game, and Hanahaki batteries the whole team's ultimates while A8 shreds Cosmos RES on a mono-Cosmos line next to Hotori. The condition is mastering the loop — meet it and she is premier S-tier, fumble it and you lose rotations.

Bottom line: she is one of the community's top-tier DPS in Patch 1.0 (ZeroLuck tier-vote: DPS SS, 4.77/5) — a top-end Cosmos carry and team battery for players willing to learn the deepest loop in 1.0, and a frustrating, under-used pick for anyone who is not. Her weakness is execution, not power.

FAQ

Is Chiz hard to play?

Yes — she has one of the deepest resource loops in Version 1.0. You bank Grain on basic attacks, accumulate Skill charges, open the Grain Market with Zero-Sum Game, then dump Grain-scaled damage during a 7s window where the first Settlement is a guaranteed Crit. Mistime the dump and you lose most of a rotation. The payoff is high, but she is not a plug-and-play carry.

Is Chiz a DPS or a support?

A Main DPS first — almost all her output is Grain-scaled bonus Cosmos damage through Pink Paws Priority Principle. But her Hanahaki passive (Charge Enhancement, +4 Ultimate Energy to active characters) makes her a passive team energy battery on top, so on a Charge-hungry team she carries and accelerates everyone's ultimates at once.

What is the best Arc for Chiz?

Contemplative Cat — and that is the game's own recommendation in her cultivation data, not just ours. It is a 5★ Gas arc with a CRIT DMG sub-stat, which is ideal because her biggest hit (the first Grain Settlement) is a guaranteed Crit. Good Boy's Grand Adventure (5★ Gas, ATK%) is the alternative; Cosmos Daze, Wild Reverie (4★ Gas, ATK%) is the farmable budget pick.

What is the best Cassette Set?

Lost Radiance 4-piece. The 2-piece is Cosmos DMG +10% (her element); the 4-piece ignores 25% of enemy DEF for 20s after casting Ultimate — which lines up exactly with her Zero-Sum Game window where she does her biggest damage. Shadow Creed (ATK +10% / +25% ATK after Skill) is a safe generic alternative while you farm it.

What stats should I prioritise?

Straight from her in-game recommended attributes: Cosmos DMG > Universal DMG Bonus. Since the guaranteed-crit Settlement removes the need to stack CRIT Rate on her key hit, lean sub-stats into CRIT DMG, ATK% and Universal DMG to maximise that Settlement payout.

Which Awakening matters most?

A5 (Blank Diary Pages) is the biggest practical jump — starting combat at the full Grain cap removes her slow opening ramp. Then A6 (+15% Grain bonus DMG) and A8 (Cosmos RES shred). Priority: A5 → A6 → A8 → A4 → A3 → A2, with A1 / A7 last. She functions at A0 but the early-ramp pain is real without A5.

Is Chiz F2P-friendly?

Partially. Her A0 kit works without dupes, but she leans harder on A5 than most carries (it fixes her opening ramp) and her best arc, Contemplative Cat, needs a banner pull — only the 4★ Cosmos Daze is farmable. F2P players run the 4★ and accept a slower opening; the loop still pays off, just less smoothly.

Is she worth it for casual / story play?

She is playable but not ideal for casual play — the Grain Market timing is demanding and a missed window costs a lot of damage. For story and mid difficulty a simpler carry clears faster with less effort. Chiz rewards players who want to learn a deep loop and push harder endgame content.
