The Book of Post-Adolescence — Black Tome
A floating tome on a half-built rooftop and the highest base-ATK free Arc in the game. Bring Daffodill — both for the Chaos weakness and because Youthful Fantasy is her signature weapon. Refine to Lv 3 and you have a top-tier Daffodill build, no Tri-Keys spent.

TL;DR — 5 Steps
- Head southwest from Wertheimer TowerThe construction site is the unfinished tower clearly visible from Wertheimer Tower — same district, short drive south-west.
- Use the east-side elevatorThe building is mid-construction with no proper staircases. The exterior elevator on the east face takes you straight up.
- Reach the 4F rooftopExit the elevator on the 4th floor — the open rooftop is where the Black Tome floats in mid-air.
- Examine the tome to start the fightInteraction prompt on the floating book triggers the encounter immediately. Set your team before approaching.
- Bring Chaos damage + DaffodillDaffodill is both the weakness damage and the future owner of the Arc. Lacrimosa, Baicang and Haniel round out the standard Chaos comp.
How to Reach the Black Tome
The only sane way up the unfinished tower is the east-face construction elevator. The stairs are blocked and the west side has no climb route — save yourself the trial-and-error.
- Open the world map and fast-travel to Wertheimer Tower (New Herland District).
- Drive or run southwest. The construction site is unmistakable — an unfinished tower wrapped in scaffolding.
- Walk to the east face of the building and locate the exterior construction elevator. It is the only sensible vertical path; the stairwells are still under construction.
- Ride the elevator to the 4th floor. The doors open onto an exposed rooftop deck.
- The Black Tome floats above the rooftop centre. Approach until the inspect prompt appears, then interact to start the fight.
Boss: Black Tome
A floating book-shaped boss that uses sustained laser pressure and chained projectile patterns. The fight is balanced around dodging laterally during the long laser beam and parrying the chain attacks between casts. Daffodill is the natural answer: the boss's Chaos weakness aligns with her damage profile and the Arc you're farming is her own signature.
Laser beam
ParryTell: The tome glows red, then projects a sustained horizontal laser across the arena.
Parrying the start frame interrupts the cast and creates a long punish window. Mistime it and the laser locks you in place for follow-up damage.
Chained projectiles
DodgeTell: The tome flips open and rapid-fires three to four homing projectiles in sequence.
Dodge laterally, not backward. The projectiles re-track on every dodge frame — keep your i-frame timing tight and move perpendicular.
Ink slam
DodgeTell: The tome rises, then plummets straight down with an ink-spread AoE on landing.
Roll backward early — the AoE expands twice (initial impact, then secondary spread). One dodge does not always clear the second pulse.
Page flurry
Walk outTell: Animated pages orbit the boss in a slow widening spiral.
Don't dodge through the pages — walk laterally out of the spiral radius. Dodge i-frames are wasted on the slow scan.

Optimal if you own Lacrimosa — stacks Chaos pressure cleanly on a stationary boss

Two Chaos profiles plus Lacrimosa's DoT and Baicang's break support. Daffodill stays in the comp so she gets first dibs on the Arc.

If you don't have Lacrimosa, Daffodill as main DPS still clears comfortably

Daffodill carries the Chaos damage; Sakiri layers Incantation pressure; Zero + Edgar provide Esper Cycle bridges and survivability.
The Reward — Youthful Fantasy
| Base ATK lv 1 → lv 20 → lv 80 | 37 → 154 → 570 (highest free S-Rank ATK in the game) |
| Substat ATK% lv 1 → lv 20 → lv 80 | 12% → ramping → 30% |
| Passive — Black Tome | Increases Break Intensity by 60. Seals Arc: Black Tome with two chains by default. Unleashes one chain every time any teammate casts a Support Skill. Once both chains unleash, Arc: Black Tome activates — summons the Black Tome for 20 s. Every 5 s it designates an enemy. The wearer's Chaos DMG to designated enemies +20%, and on Break Damage hits the designated enemies take additional Chaos DMG equal to 2% of the wearer's ATK. |
| Refinement | 5 refinement levels. Each level scales the Break Intensity bonus, the Chaos DMG bonus on designated enemies, and the per-Break chip damage. Pushing to Lv 3 is the standard recommendation for serious Daffodill mains. |
Best User
Signature Arc. Daffodill's kit chains Support Skills constantly through Enhanced Resonance and Phantom Step — the chain seal unlocks fast and the Black Tome summon stays up almost permanently.
Statistically the most powerful free Arc in the game thanks to the higher base ATK ceiling (570 vs 512 on standard S-Rank arcs). The kit requires a team built around Support Skill casts to fully exploit the chain unlock — Daffodill is the obvious home, but any Chaos main paired with frequent Support Skill rotation benefits.

Pro Tips & Common Pitfalls
- The construction-site elevator is on the east face. Players who circle the building from the west wonder why they can't find an entrance — there isn't one on that side.
- Youthful Fantasy's 570 ATK ceiling is the headline number — but the real payoff is the Support Skill chain unlock. Build the rest of the team around casting Support Skills on cooldown to keep the Black Tome summon up nearly permanently.
- Daffodill mains: refine to at least Lv 3 before considering this Arc 'done'. Below Lv 3 the chip damage scales too low to compete with a refined Lacrimosa Arc setup.
- The Black Tome boss has a long Laser Beam parry window — if you're farming refinement copies, learn this one parry first. It single-handedly cuts the fight length by 30-40%.
- The 4F rooftop has no fall protection. Avoid backward dodges near the edges — the Black Tome's Ink Slam telegraph can shove you off if you're not centred during the cast.
