Ratings

  • Survivability
  • As Support
  • Scorch Synergy
  • Solo Damage
  • Ease of Use
  • F2P Friendly

Contextual: elite as a survivability anchor and very F2P-friendly, low on solo damage — he is a support, not a carry.

Community read — ZeroLuck tier-vote, Patch 1.0 (live, n=21 votes across roles): DPS B 1.92/5 (12 votes) · Hybrid A 3.0/5 (4) · Support S 3.8/5 (5). He is rated mostly as a support — the DPS line is low-confidence noise, he is not picked as a damage carry.

Trend: no recent tier shift, he is stable in the current patch. Watch the live tier list for the up-to-date placement.

Strengths

  • Reliable Blessing shield + Incantation DoT in one button
  • Scorch Enhancement drip-feeds ATK / Esper RES / Break debuffs
  • 4★ rarity with a farmable 4★ best-in-slot arc — fully F2P
  • A1 turns the ultimate into a free maxed-skill reset
  • DEF scaling means his survivability stat is also his damage stat

Weaknesses

  • Support-tier personal damage — never a main carry
  • Team-buff ceiling (A8) needs a mono-Incantation core
  • Karma must be banked before every Evil's Bane cast
  • Off a Scorch / Incantation team, half his value is idle

Gameplay — Karma & the Blessing Shield

Adler runs a simple resource economy. His normal-attack chain banks Karma (1 per Deliverance/Ignorance hit, 2 per Liberation, capped at 20). Evil's Bane then spends the whole bar — each stack is +2% Skill DMG — to deal AoE Incantation damage, apply an Incantation DoT, and shield your active carry. The loop is always bank Karma → cast Evil's Bane → re-shield.

Why he is also an enabler

  • Temperance — Scorch Enhancement: every Scorch rolls −20% ATK, −10% Esper RES or +10% Break Efficiency on the target for 15s
  • Enlightened Guardian (A8) — allies under Blessing gain +10% team Incantation DMG
  • Righteous Heart — +20% DEF, which feeds both his Karma damage scaling and his A4 shield overflow

That is the key decision with Adler: generic shield or Incantation/Scorch specialist. Anywhere he keeps a carry alive; slotted next to Baicang on a mono-Incantation core he also pumps team damage and softens the boss — meet that condition and he punches well above a 4★, ignore it and he is just a plain shielder.

Skills

Upgrade priority

  1. Evil's Bane
  2. Tranquility
  3. Deliverance
  4. Pristine Reflection

Skill

Evil's Bane

Summons Sunya phantoms for AoE Incantation DMG, applies Incantation DMG over time, then grants the active character a shield with the Blessing buff. Casting it consumes every Karma stack — each consumed stack adds +2% Skill DMG, so a full 20-stack bar makes this his hardest single hit. This is the engine of the kit: it is your shield, your DoT and your damage payoff in one button.

Ultimate

Tranquility

Summons all five Sunyas to strike every enemy for 5 instances of Incantation DMG; against a lone target they strike twice for 10 instances total. With A1 it also refills him to 20 Karma instantly (and A5 refunds 20 Ultimate Energy), so the ultimate doubles as a hard reset that immediately reloads a full Evil's Bane.

Normal Attack

Deliverance

Up to a 5-hit Incantation combo. Liberation enters aim mode for a single-target shot; Ignorance is a fall-scaling plunge (up to +100%); Revelation is the post-dodge counter that reduces enemy Break. Every Deliverance / Ignorance hit grants 1 Karma, Liberation grants 2 — max 20. This is purely your Karma generator; you build here, then dump it on Evil's Bane.

Chain Skill

Pristine Reflection

A swap-in shot firing one Compressed Round for a single instance of AoE Incantation DMG. Cheap, no resource cost, and a clean way to chip damage while rotating Adler in. Lowest upgrade priority.

Passive

Temperance

Scorch Enhancement: every time Scorch is inflicted, it applies one of three random debuffs for 15s — −20% enemy ATK, −10% Esper RES, or +10% Break Efficiency (same effect cannot stack). This plugs Adler into NTE's shared Scorch system — the same mechanic Baicang and Sagiri are built around — so on a Scorch team his shield slot also drip-feeds defensive debuffs.

Passive

Righteous Heart

Flat +20% Adler DEF. Because his Karma → Skill DMG and (with A4) his shield overflow both scale off his survivability and DEF, this is not a throwaway line — it is a small multiplier on the role he is actually built for.

Skill scaling — Lv 1 → Lv 11

Real ratios (% of ATK) from the in-game codex. The Shield Ratio doubles to 2160% ×2 — together with A2's +60% DMG at full Karma, that is the real payoff of leveling Evil's Bane.

SourceLv 1Lv 11

Normal Attack — 5th instance87.5%188.9%
Normal Attack — Critical Dodge counter (Revelation)176%380%
Chain Skill — Pristine Reflection200%431.8%

Tranquility (Ultimate) and both passives (Temperance, Righteous Heart) have no scalingTable in the imported codex — Tranquility's big multi-hit is fixed-rate, Temperance triggers Scorch debuffs (no DMG scaling), and Righteous Heart is a flat +20% DEF buff. Only the rows above benefit from skill books.

Awakenings

Priority: A1 → A2 → A8 → A3 → A6 → A5, then A4 / A7. He is fully functional at A0 — awakenings raise his ceiling, they do not gate him. A1 is the biggest jump because it makes the ultimate a free maxed-skill reset; A2 then layers up to +60% DMG on top.

S

A1

Form

Casting Tranquility instantly grants 20 stacks of Karma — a full bar. This turns the ultimate into a free reset that immediately reloads a maxed Evil's Bane, smoothing out his entire damage loop. The single biggest quality-of-life and DPS jump on his chart.

S

A2

Sensation

Each stack of Karma grants +3% DMG Bonus. At a full 20 stacks that is +60% DMG — a flat multiplier on everything he does, and it pairs directly with A1's free refill.

A

A8

Enlightened Guardian

Allies protected by Blessing gain +10% team Incantation DMG. This is the line that converts him from a personal-damage 4★ into a real Incantation-team support — strong specifically in a mono-Incantation core.

A

A3

Perception

Blessing shield value +20%. A direct, unconditional boost to the survivability his whole identity is built on — high value in hard content.

B

A6

All Forms Are Void

Blessing duration extended to 12s. Longer shield uptime between Evil's Bane casts; good once the S/A lines are in.

B

A5

Discernment

Casting Tranquility grants +20 Ultimate Energy. Speeds up his ultimate cadence, which (with A1) means more free Karma resets — a tempo line.

C

A4

Formation

When Blessing breaks, it absorbs extra overflow damage equal to 50% of Adler's DEF. Pure niche sustain — only matters when shields are being shattered in one hit.

C

A7

Cleanse

+1 skill level to Deliverance, Evil's Bane and Tranquility. A flat stat-stick — unlock last.

Cassette Set & Stats

  • 2-piece: DEF +15%
  • 4-piece: Wearer's shields +20%

Tailor-made for him: the 2-piece feeds his DEF scaling (Righteous Heart, A4) and the 4-piece is a flat upgrade to the Blessing shield — the exact resource he exists to provide.

  • 2-piece: Incantation DMG +10%
  • 4-piece: +6% wearer ATK when a nearby enemy takes Incantation DMG from the team, up to 6 stacks (10s each, persists off-field)

The mono-Incantation-core option. When he is running A8 to buff the team's element, this leans into that role instead of pure shielding.

Adler
AdlerShield / Scorch support

Incantation · Bose. Builds Karma on his combo, dumps it on Evil's Bane for a shield + Incantation DoT, and with A8 buffs the team's Incantation DMG. His Scorch Enhancement drip-feeds defensive debuffs on a Scorch core.

Baicang
BaicangIncantation carry

Incantation DoT Main DPS and Scorch enabler. His A8 (Remained) grants all allies inside Judgment of Autumn +20% ATK and the Execution effect — so the shield Adler drops on him also gets +20% ATK, while Baicang's Power Words feed the Scorch ticks that roll Temperance's −20% ATK / −10% Esper RES on the boss. The two kits literally trigger each other every cycle.

Sagiri
SagiriIncantation buff / control

Incantation control unit. Her A4 (Wishful Reliance) grants the team ATK equal to 30% of her Base ATK for 20s after Feast of Gluttony — that flat +ATK stacks with Adler's A8 +10% team Incantation DMG, multiplying Evil's Bane's Skill DMG payoff (the Karma → +2%/stack scaling) AND his Incantation DoT in one window.

Lacrimosa
LacrimosaDoT flex carry

Chaos DoT carry that also runs Discord Enhancement. Her A6 (Morning Spell) auto-casts her support skill when she's swapped in within 5s of a Scorch / Nova / Discord proc — so an Adler Scorch tick from Temperance directly fires Lacrimosa's free Nightmare setup. The shield + Scorch debuff package keeps her DoT windows alive and softened.

Optimal Rotation

  1. Build Karma

Open with Deliverance. Every Deliverance / Ignorance hit gives 1 Karma, Liberation gives 2 — push toward the 20 cap. Use Revelation off a Critical Dodge for the Break reduction while you stack.

  2. Dump on Evil's Bane

At (or near) 20 Karma cast Evil's Bane. It consumes the whole bar — every stack is +2% Skill DMG — for AoE Incantation DMG, the Incantation DoT, and the Blessing shield on your active carry. Never cast it on an empty Karma bar.

  3. Tranquility reset

Fire Tranquility for the big multi-hit. With A1 it instantly refills 20 Karma (and A5 refunds Ultimate Energy), so the ultimate hands you a fresh maxed Evil's Bane on the spot.

  4. Re-shield & debuff

Recast Evil's Bane to keep Blessing up on the carry. On a Scorch core, the Scorch ticks roll Temperance's −20% ATK / −10% Esper RES / +10% Break Efficiency onto the boss for 15s.

  5. Hand off

Swap to your main carry while Blessing and the Scorch debuffs are live, then rotate Adler back in via Pristine Reflection to rebuild Karma before the shield expires.

Golden rule: never cast Evil's Bane on an empty Karma bar — each stack is +2% Skill DMG.

Should You Pull?

Pull if…

  • You run or plan an Incantation core (Baicang / Sagiri) and want a same-element shield support
  • You want a sustain unit that also adds offence via the shared Scorch system
  • You are F2P — his best-in-slot arc is a farmable 4★, no banner pull required
  • You like a simple build-resource → dump → shield loop with a clean ultimate reset
  • You need a budget shielder that scales on his own DEF, not on dupes

Skip if…

  • You want a pure damage carry — Adler's output is support-tier, not a main DPS
  • Your team has no Incantation or Scorch payoff — his enabler value goes unused
  • You already own a stronger 5★ shielder and have no Incantation-core need
  • You dislike resource setup — you must bank Karma before Evil's Bane every cycle

New / casual players: Adler is one of the most forgiving units to learn — a reliable shield plus a defensive-debuff package makes story and mid difficulty trivial on his A0 4★ kit. As a 4★ he is easy to obtain, so he is an excellent first support.

F2P / low-spend: this is where he shines. He is a 4★, needs no dupes to work, and his game-recommended best-in-slot arc (Umbrella) is a farmable 4★ — there is no paywall on his power at all. For a budget Incantation/Scorch core he is one of the best value picks in the game.

Invested / endgame: his ceiling is conditional. With A8 on a mono-Incantation core next to Baicang and Sagiri he becomes a real team-damage support, not just a shielder; A1 + A2 then smooth and scale his loop hard. The condition is the Incantation/Scorch team — meet it and he is a premium-feeling 4★, ignore it and he is a plain shield bot.

Bottom line: judge him as a support, never as a carry. The community votes him a weak damage pick (B tier as DPS) but a solid S-tier support — a forgiving, fully F2P shield/sustain enabler for everyone, and a genuine team-damage support for players who build a mono-Incantation / Scorch core. His weakness is role ceiling, not reliability.

FAQ

Is Adler a DPS or a support?

A support — specifically a shield / sustain unit. His whole kit revolves around banking Karma and spending it on Evil's Bane to put a Blessing shield on your active carry, plus an Incantation DoT. He does deal damage, but it is support-tier; you run him to keep a carry alive and (on the right team) to feed the Scorch system, not to top a damage chart.

Why is his recommended stat DEF instead of ATK?

Because that is what his in-game recommended attributes say (DEF% > DEF), and it tracks: Righteous Heart is +20% DEF, and A4 makes a broken Blessing absorb damage equal to 50% of his DEF. You build him to be a sturdy shield-keeper, not a damage stat-stick — DEF is the correct direction here.

What is the best Arc for Adler?

Umbrella — and that is the game's own recommendation in his cultivation data, not just ours. It is a 4★ Bose arc with a DEF% sub-stat, which matches his recommended attributes exactly. The Fools' Spring (4★ Bose, DEF%) is the listed budget alternative; Eternal Waltz (5★ Bose, HP%) is the higher-ceiling option if you happen to own it.

What is the best Cassette Set?

Kingdom's Guard 4-piece. The 2-piece is DEF +15% (his scaling stat) and the 4-piece is shields +20% — a direct upgrade to the one thing he exists to provide. On a mono-Incantation core, Crimson: Twin Butterflies (Incantation DMG +10% / team-fed ATK) is the alternative when you want him pushing the team's element instead.

What stats should I prioritise?

Straight from his in-game recommended attributes: DEF% then flat DEF. Sub-stats follow the same logic — DEF%, flat DEF, HP% for extra shield-keeper bulk. He is one of the few units where stacking defence is the optimal damage choice too, via Karma scaling and A4.

Which Awakening matters most?

A1 (Form) is the biggest jump — Tranquility instantly refills 20 Karma, so the ultimate becomes a free reset for a maxed Evil's Bane. Then A2 (+3% DMG per Karma = +60% at cap) and A8 (+10% team Incantation DMG under Blessing). Priority: A1 → A2 → A8 → A3 → A6 → A5, with A4 / A7 last. He is fully functional at A0.

Is Adler F2P-friendly?

Very. He is a 4★, his kit needs no dupes to function, and his game-recommended best-in-slot arc (Umbrella) is a farmable 4★ with no banner paywall. For F2P players building an Incantation or Scorch core he is one of the most cost-effective support picks available.

Is he worth it for casual / story play?

Yes — arguably more so than for endgame. A reliable shield on your carry plus a built-in defensive-debuff package makes story and mid-difficulty content very forgiving on his base kit. His ceiling (A8 Incantation buffing) only matters when you push the hardest content with a mono-Incantation team.
