Anomaly Story

According to the final voyage report, the Pequod had been chasing a whale for forty days. Supplies were nearly exhausted and the crew was at their mental limit, but the whale they pursued was also on its last legs. Harpoon strikes had caused the great beast to bleed, leaving a red trail across the open ocean. The whale was heading towards a field of packed ice, perhaps hoping to force the Pequod to abandon pursuit. Shortly after, both the whale and the Pequod vanished into the packed ice. No one ever saw them again, until we encountered the Sea Prisoner.

R-1851(Or) Sea Prisoner is a large Bio Anomaly resembling a whale-like creature. According to citizen reports, when traversing the undersea tunnels, one can occasionally hear "strange singing." Continuing forward leads into the Sea Prisoner's Anomalous Realm, which resembles packed ice interspersed with shipwrecks and abandoned structures. Inside this Anomalous Realm, water becomes "walkable."

The surface remains liquid, but attempting to go below the surface meets resistance. The water composition is similar to seawater, but a period after the Anomalous Realm forms, it turns a vivid blood red. Though harmless to humans, its appearance is gruesome and terrifying leading frightened drivers to abandon their vehicles and flee. Those who do so soon find themselves exiting the Anomalous Realm, back in the undersea tunnel.

The Sea Prisoner appears unable to leave its Anomalous Realm. Based on certain physical characteristics, the Sea Prisoner shares similarities with the whale the Pequod was tracking, but the Sea Prisoner has many additional growths on its body. Some appear to be characteristics of other marine creatures, while others are scars from healed wounds. A massive harpoon is lodged in the Sea Prisoner's back.

It is a common whaling cannon model, but far larger than any standard harpoon. The missing Pequod was equipped with the same model, but we have no way to determine whether this particular harpoon belonged to the Pequod. Nevertheless, after confirming it as a Derivative Anomaly of R-1851(Or), we still gave it the name Pequod.

The Sea Prisoner shows no active aggression, and according to those who have encountered it, the Sea Prisoner initially is friendly and seems inclined to communicate. Unfortunately, no one can understand the Sea Prisoner's singing, so what it is trying to express remained unknown for a long time. After entering the Anomalous Realm, the water eventually turns red and the Sea Prisoner exhibits extreme pain, struggling to dislodge the harpoon deeply embedded in its back.

Even without malicious intent, the Sea Prisoner's massive size causes tremendous destruction when it thrashes. After being driven mad by agony, the Sea Prisoner begins attacking everything around it indiscriminately. Those who have encountered the Sea Prisoner generally report sensing that it is suffering gravely. Having Anomalized, it cannot die, and the harpoon on its back will torment it forever.

It appears to draw others into its Anomalous Realm as a cry for help, longing for someone to end its pain. After leaving the Anomalous Realm, those who have encountered the Sea Prisoner generally express concern for its condition.

A small number develop obsessive symptoms regarding "helping the Sea Prisoner," but we cannot verify whether these changes stem from post-traumatic stress after witnessing its suffering, or whether the Anomalous Realm exerted influence on their minds.

In nearly all ancient beliefs, the sea was a personified deity: generous yet capricious, an embodiment of abundance and disaster alike. Majestic creatures like whales were also imbued with much mythological significance. Yet now, as reverence for the sea has been replaced by a hunger for resources, few stop to ask: What must we give in return? Will endless plundering one day invite the sea's fury?

Anomaly Characteristics
  • The Sea Prisoner is a Bio Anomaly resembling a whale, with characteristics of multiple marine creatures fused together.
  • A massive harpoon is lodged in its back, which is a Derivative Anomaly.
  • It continuously emits singing of unknown meaning.
  • It has no malicious intent, but when affected by the harpoon, it loses reason and attacks everything around it.
  • No records exist of it being observed outside its Anomalous Realm, and it is unclear whether this is due to inability or lack of intention.
Anomaly Nexus
