Anomaly Story

There have only been a handful of direct sightings of a "Leech Spawn". The puzzle of this Anomaly can only be pieced together from blurry footage and fragmented witness accounts. Due to the nature of the "Leech Spawn", in that they often attach themselves to objects or lurk in the shadows, they're incredibly difficult to catch. A "Leech Spawn" is a type of "Protocore" Anomaly, with no stable physical form, and is thus classified as low-level Oddities.

Their overall shape resembles a dog, but their head looks like two fists fused. Their tail is similar, in that it has the streamlined structure of a hand. Leech Spawns are composed of a mist-like substance that radiates cold temperatures, causing anything it touches to go numb. Leech Spawn display a quasi-biological habit of attaching themselves to objects to conceal themselves. Because of this, Leech Spawn are incredibly difficult to contain or nullify.

According to most witness accounts, Leech Spawns often attach themselves to streetlights and create the illusion of malfunctions to lure in maintenance workers. They can also potentially utilize shadows beneath streetlights to mimic human silhouettes, while repeatedly emitting sounds that are similar to a baby's cry for help. It should be noted that this Anomaly merely mimics noises, and does not have the proper vocal organs to speak.

Multiple related incidents have already become urban legends among the public, and are discussed across many sections of online forums. The source for Leech Spawn is no longer reliable.

Risk Assessment
Potential threat.
Containment Status
Most have been nullified. A small number are contained at the Celaeno Compound.
Containment Measures
Illuminate with light sources, ensuring there are no blind spots present. Experiment Log Test Objective: Determine how light affects Leech Spawn behavior. The test team consisted of C.S.U. members with specialized Anomaly-handling training. With adequate protective measures in place, there was no risk to life or any other safety issues. Variable Control: Illumination level—controlled through adjusting the lighting equipment. Results: - At 100% illumination, Leech Spawn showed almost no behavior, only occasionally pacing slowly with no clear, identifiable purpose. - At 60% illumination, Leech Spawn were capable of running and moving about. They showed no obvious aggression, but remained wary of approaching organisms. - At 30% illumination, Leech Spawn displayed clear aggressive behavior, and their behavior patterns shifted from vigilance to active aggression. - With no illumination, Leech Spawn reverted to their pre-containment behavior patterns and aggression, posing a safety threat. Testing was conducted using inanimate dummies.
