7DS: Origin Version 1.5 — Beyond the Sandstorm — Merlin & the Progression Overhaul
v1.5Beyond the Sandstorm — Merlin & the Progression Overhaul
Version 1.5 'Beyond the Sandstorm' is confirmed for the June 4 maintenance and was revealed at the June 1 livestream. The full content list is official: new SSR hero Merlin with her 'Morning Star Aldan' skin, a Daisy rerun, Main Quest Act 14 'The Snare of Time', the new 'Sealed Sanctuary' region, a weekly co-op Raid at 'Taranis's Sanctuary', Leaderboard Pre-Season 2 and Hell/Abyss golem tiers — on top of the big progression overhaul that finally lets engraved gear and armor equip together, plus the quality-of-life changes players cheered loudest (no cube keys on elites, double-reward cubes). Merlin's kit was shown live (Cold / Lightning / Fire); her exact rates and the per-item numbers land with the Update Details notice.
- June 4 — confirmed
- Merlin · SSR
- Skin: Morning Star Aldan
- Act 14: The Snare of Time
- Region: Sealed Sanctuary
- Weekly Raid
- Gear overhaul
- Daisy rerun
Netmarble has locked the dates and published the full Version 1.5 content list. The 'Beyond the Sandstorm' special livestream airs June 1 (Mon) at 11:00 UTC on the official YouTube channel — simultaneously for Korea, Japan and Global — headlined by Merlin's gameplay first look, the new main story and a new-content overview. The update itself ships at the June 4 (Thursday) maintenance, with Star Fragment x300 as maintenance compensation.
1.5 pairs that content with a global rework of progression. Per Developer Note #13 the goal is to make heroes meaningfully stronger and existing content more accessible: engraved gear and armor now equip together, a new weekly Raid arrives, dungeons fold into Boss Challenge and elite farming opens up. Here is everything already confirmed, with Merlin's kit and the precise banner rates landing at the June 1 stream and the detailed patch notes.

Merlin — the new SSR hero
Merlin, the Boar's Sin of Gluttony, is the new SSR hero of Version 1.5 — her gameplay first look headlined the June 1 livestream. She launches on June 4 with her exclusive skin 'Morning Star Aldan', a 'Hero Merlin Trial Event' to test her, and 'Merlin Growth Mission Bundle I–II' in the shop.
Her kit, as shown live
- Three weapons, three elements — Grimoire = Cold/Ice, Wand = Lightning, Staff = Fire — the first hero to span three damage elements.
- Tag-Skill carry — Built around stacking a Frost Mark (or her debuffs) then Tag-switching for a spike — over 1M shown in the demo. Wand ultimate costs 2; Staff ultimate is free (0 cost) once you have burst.
- Special weapon — Gluttonous Soul Grimoire — Boosts Cold attack on normal skills and raises Tag Skill. Her exclusive engraved gear adds Crit Damage while her Cold boost is active.
Who Merlin is (Seven Deadly Sins canon)
- Title — The Boar's Sin of Gluttony — one of the original Seven Deadly Sins.
- Reputation — Regarded as the greatest mage in Britannia, a master sorceress.
- Signature magic — Her power 'Infinity' makes a spell's effect last permanently once cast — a defining trait in the source material.
Daisy — potential fix & A Timeless Heart rerun
- [Tier 6] potential corrected — Fixing a prior localization error: landing a Normal Attack or Ultimate Move now lowers the enemy's Crit Defense by 15% for 20 seconds.
- 'A Timeless Heart' banner returns — Daisy's Pick Up reruns during 1.5 — 120-pull guaranteed like a new-hero banner, sharing the current SSR Pick Up guaranteed counter, and her exclusive skin 'The Fresh Scent of Autumn' is included.
Progression & gear overhaul
The core of 1.5 is a rework of how gear and progression fit together, so the armor you farm finally matters and heroes end up stronger overall.
Gluttonous Soul weapons — new sub options
- Longsword — + Attack Increase.
- Axe — + Crit Damage.
- Sword & Shield — + Ultimate Move Damage Increase.
- Rapier — + Wind Burst Efficiency.
Crafted quality unlocked — exact ranges (min → max)
- Ruler of the Ocean (Top/Bottoms/Belt/Boots) — 61 → 70
- Arachne's Melody (Bottoms/Belt/Boots) — 96 → 120
- Life Crystal (Bottoms/Belt) — 96 → 120
- Jet-black Crystal (Top/Bottoms/Belt/Boots) — 96 → 110
- Star Guardian (Top/Bottoms/Belt/Boots) — 86 → 100
- Revived Nightmare (Top/Bottoms/Belt/Boots) — 86 → 100
- Twisted Wish (Top/Bottoms/Belt/Boots) — 86 → 100
- Immortal Guardian (Necklace/Ring/Earrings) — 61 → 70
- Twisted Thought (Necklace/Ring/Earrings) — 96 → 110
- Cursed Pulse (Necklace/Ring/Earrings) — 100 → 125
- Hymn of Regeneration (Necklace/Ring/Earrings) — 115 → 125
Easier weapon caps
- SR → SSR shards — A new recipe crafts SSR Magic Crystal Shards from SR ones, so raising SSR weapon limit breaks is more accessible.
- Cheaper SR weapons — SR weapon crafting is made easier, feeding that new shard recipe through salvage.
Boss Challenge, dungeons & the new Raid
Dungeons are restructured into Boss Challenge, and a brand-new weekly co-op mode arrives at 'Taranis's Sanctuary'.
What changes
- New: weekly Raid — Co-op for up to 5 players at 'Taranis's Sanctuary' (Abyss only, its own dedicated key). Not a daily grind — rewards are weekly, capped at 2 claims per week at ~500 Star Fragments each (≈1,000/week). The 'chess boss' has destructible board pieces and party gimmicks. Mission track: 'Conqueror's Path'.
- Three dungeons close — Ferzen Mines, Deep Spider Nest and The Capital of the Dead temporarily close for renewal — and will return reworked into the raid format, like Taranis's Sanctuary. In the meantime The Capital of the Dead becomes elite-monster farming content (lower difficulty, adjusted rewards).
- Rewards move to Boss Challenge — Existing Boss Challenge rewards are unchanged; the dungeons' rewards (accessories, Star Guardian engraved materials, boss armor sets) are added on top — one clear pays out both, so total rewards go up.
- Old dungeon materials — Items like 'Mysterious Source of the Long-dead' exchange 1:1 for Boss Challenge components after maintenance, and the recipes that used them are updated — so hold onto them.
- Corrupted Guardian Golem — The Boss Challenge boss gains new [Hell] and [Abyss] difficulties, with first-clear fragment rewards.
Growth made easier
- Elite monsters cost 0 cube keys — Field elite monsters no longer cost cube keys — combined with last patch's faster respawn, elite farming is effectively unlimited. The hosts called this the defining change of 1.5.
- Double-reward cube keys — Opening a cube now yields two different random gear rewards (not a duplicate). Cube keys apply everywhere except the raid (field bosses, dungeons, the boss).
- Trade-off — Gold and Mastery EXP are removed from elite rewards; fragments, marks and other drops still come as before.
- SR → SSR Magic Crystal Shard — A new blueprint converts SR shards up to SSR (and SR weapon crafting is cheaper), making SSR weapon limit breaks far easier — still capped once per week per weapon.
Star Trace Crystalloid — new sources & makeup
Following the May 26 mishap (unfinished data briefly handed these out, with a reward UI that couldn't actually be claimed), Netmarble detailed the intended system and a makeup.
- New sources after 1.5 — Earning Potential through Mastery past the highest Potential tier (SR hero x5 / SSR hero x20), and the Hero Pick Up 120-Loyalty-draw bonus (SSR x10, or x20 if the hero is already at the highest Potential tier).
- Retroactive grant — Players who qualified before the change but didn't receive them get them back via in-game mailbox (minus any already received during the error window).
- Apology reward — Star Fragment x1,000 for everyone, claimable from the mailbox after the 1.5 update until June 18 (Thu) 14:59 UTC.
Time Attack ranking — a balance note
- Under watch — Devs are studying a pre-season strategy — stacking maximum buffs before the timer starts, then chaining a transformation-type ultimate with a maintained duration to cut clear time. It is considered a normal use of the content's starting rules for now.
- What's next — They will review its impact after 1.5 and announce the direction for the regular Time Attack ranking season in a dev note timed with its start, to avoid pre-buff/transformation play becoming overly central.
