Version 1.5 Livestream Recap
Everything Netmarble revealed at the Beyond the Sandstorm special broadcast, organised so you can act on it.
The Version 1.5 'Beyond the Sandstorm' special livestream gave the first full look at the June 4 update: Merlin played in-game across all three of her weapons, the new Taranis's Sanctuary raid, Act 14 and the Sealed Sanctuary region, two new armor sets, a dungeon-to-raid overhaul, and a wave of quality-of-life changes the hosts called game-changing. This recap pulls every confirmed detail from the broadcast into one structured page. Where the stream showed gameplay but not numbers, we say so — no skill multipliers, rates or set percentages are invented; those land with the Update Details notice.
- Merlin · 3 elements
- Raid: Taranis's Sanctuary
- No keys on elites
- Double cube rewards
- Act 14 + new region
- Daisy rerun
The five biggest takeaways
1 — Merlin is a three-element powerhouse. Grimoire = Cold/Ice, Wand = Lightning, Staff = Fire. She is built around the Tag Skill: stacking a Frost Mark (or her debuffs) and then Tag-switching for a huge hit — the stream showed Tag damage well over a million.
2 — The gear overhaul is the headline system change. Engraved gear and armor now equip together, so engraved passives and armor set bonuses finally stack. Some set values are trimmed to compensate, but the net is a clear power gain — and your farmed armor stops being pure salvage.
3 — The quality-of-life pass is what players cheered loudest. Field elite monsters no longer cost cube keys, and cube keys now open a double reward (two different random drops). The hosts called this the defining change of 1.5.
4 — New end-game: the Taranis's Sanctuary raid. Weekly co-op (up to 5), Abyss-only, two clears per week for ~500 Star Fragments each (≈1,000/week), with its own key. The 'chess boss' fight has destructible board pieces and party gimmicks.
5 — Lots of free pulls. A Daisy rerun (standard-rate, 120-Loyalty pity), a Merlin Trial event, a 14-day login reward (1,400 Star Fragments), and a big stack of livestream giveaway tickets all land with the patch.
Merlin — three kits, three elements
Shown live in the trial, one weapon at a time. She is a Tag-Skill carry first.
Merlin is the first hero to cover three different damage elements across her three weapons, which the hosts flagged as enormous value — she can slot into Ice, Lightning or Fire teams. Across all three, the throughline is the Tag Skill: build up marks/stacks, then Tag-switch to cash them in for a spike.
The three weapons (as shown in-game)
- Grimoire — Cold/Ice — Q increases Crit Chance and, held, channels damage and Freezes the target; long-range ultimate. The key loop is accumulating attack points fast and capitalising on Tag-Skill damage. Her Frost Mark mechanic produces a big payoff when the mark is consumed.
- Wand — Lightning — An AoE Lightning DPS (rare in the current roster). Q is an AoE that Stuns; the ultimate costs only 2 and stacks toward E, with combo synergy shown alongside Escanor. Stack up to four times for a bigger fourth burst.
- Staff — Fire — Burst-focused: meteor-style hits that track the target, and an ultimate that is free (0 cost, doesn't drain the magic gauge) once you have burst — letting her chain ultimates. The hosts read this as the highest single-hit burst of the three.
Merlin's weapons, engraves & skin
Her special weapon, exclusive engraved gear and her sacred treasure skin.
- Special weapon — Gluttonous Soul Grimoire — Boosts Cold attack when using a normal skill and increases Tag Skill — leaning hard into her Frost Mark + Tag-switch identity. Crafted via the new chain: new-region Malachite → Malachite Alloy → the weapon (alongside Pact Magic Core for the Ferocious Watcher set).
- Exclusive engraved gear — Increases Crit Damage while her Cold-attack boost is active (Grimoire version). A Wand version supports her combo. These are her dedicated engraves, crafted from the new Ferocious Watcher set. (Its in-game name lands with the launch data.)
- Exclusive skin — Morning Star Aldan — Her sacred treasure — the orbiting magic orb she carries in the original series — available via the exclusive skin draw. The skin bundle also includes an SSR Magic Shard, a Radiant Potion of Charm and a Legendary Spell Bead, among others.
Raid Dungeon — Taranis's Sanctuary
The 'chess boss'. The new top-tier content, and the new weekly Star Fragment faucet.
The raid is the centrepiece of the new content. It reinforces the old dungeon structure — clear elite bosses on the way to the final boss — but on a weekly cadence instead of a daily grind. The final boss plays out on a giant chessboard with destructible pieces and positional gimmicks (e.g. standing inside a blue cylinder), clearly tuned for a full party.
What's confirmed
- Co-op, up to 5 — Built for a party. A solo attempt was shown struggling against the boss's HP — bring friends.
- Abyss only — There is a single difficulty: Abyss. You'll need strong gear, a full team and a good setup to get in.
- Weekly, 2 clears — Not a daily. You can claim rewards up to twice per week — around 500 Star Fragments per clear, so roughly 1,000 Star Fragments a week.
- Separate key — The raid uses its own dedicated key; cube keys do not apply here.
- Tag/Burst accessory payoff — The 5-piece burst accessory set shown enables a ~1,000 Tag-gauge spam loop — a natural fit for Merlin's Tag-switch hits, which reached ~1.5M in the demo.
Dungeon overhaul & the QoL the hosts loved most
Three dungeons close to return as raids — and farming gets dramatically less key-gated.
Alongside the new raid, the existing dungeon structure is reworked, and a set of quality-of-life changes the hosts repeatedly called the real story of 1.5 lands together.
Dungeon & Boss Challenge changes
- Three dungeons temporarily close — Deep Spider Nest, Ferzen Mines and The Capital of the Dead close for renewal. The Capital of the Dead is reworked into elite-monster farming content with adjusted difficulty/rewards in the meantime.
- They return as raids — The closed dungeons aren't gone — they'll come back reworked into the raid format, like Taranis's Sanctuary.
- Rewards fold into Boss Challenge — Old dungeon rewards (accessories, engraved materials like the Star Guardian series, boss armor sets) are added on top of existing Boss Challenge drops — one clear now pays out both, so total rewards go up.
- Materials exchange 1:1 — Hold your old dungeon materials — after maintenance you can exchange them for the new Boss Challenge materials, and recipes that used dungeon drops are updated to boss materials.
Quality of life (the crowd-pleasers)
- Elites cost 0 cube keys — Field elite monsters no longer require cube keys — combined with fast respawns, you can farm them effectively without limit.
- Double-reward cube keys — Opening a cube now yields two different random gear rewards (not a duplicate). Cube keys apply to field bosses, dungeons and the boss — everything except the raid.
- SR → SSR Magic Crystal Shard — A new blueprint converts SR shards up to SSR, making SSR weapon limit breaks far easier (still capped once per week per weapon).
- New hidden pet — a Snow Moth — A new hidden pet teased; its location wasn't given (a snow moth in a desert region puzzled even the hosts) — a community hunt.
Act 14 & the Sealed Sanctuary region
New story, a compact new desert region, and a new traversal/gimmick skill.
- Act 14 — The Snare of Time — Tristan and friends meet a scholar at a tavern and hear of strange happenings in the Dalmaly desert — a place where the sun never rises. Merlin, a Chaos crystal and a shadowy figure (possibly tied to Taranis) feature; Bug becomes more relevant. It's clearable around World Level 4, and you can lower your world level if it's too hard.
- New region — Sealed Sanctuary — The area behind the sandstorm near Wally village (by the Scorpibeast boss). Compact and dense — good for farming and EXP. New gatherables include lizard egg, egg mushroom, dates, fox bone, plus Malachite (a green copper) and amber. Contains the Temple of Undying.
- New adventure skill — Elemental Harmony — Fires a manually-controlled five-element projectile (only 1 damage) — a puzzle/gimmick tool, likely for hitting element-gated objects inside the region's layered temple, not a combat skill.
Timespace Junction 5–6, new sets & the golem
More end-game floors, two new armor sets and a new boss difficulty.
- Timespace Junction Sectors 5 & 6 — Fraudrin and Diane arrive as the new sector bosses; Floor 6 recommends Lightning + Cold. From Floor 5 on, recommended heroes are assigned per-floor (not per-season) to guide three-star clears.
- Greedy Ruler set — New armor set at quality 120–130 via the new Vow system; set tiers shown lean Crit Chance / Crit Damage / Defense Shatter, with a 5-piece bonus adding a Tag-Skill-triggered Crit Chance + Defense Shatter effect.
- Ferocious Watcher set — The engraving material for the new engraved gear (including Merlin's), crafted from 50 Pact Magic Core.
- Six heroes get a third engraved set — Mannie, Escanor, Clotho, Jericho, Dreyfus and Hendrickson — Jericho and Mannie's are Ice-flavoured.
- Corrupted Guardian Golem — Hell/Abyss — A new Hell/Abyss difficulty is added, with first-clear fragment rewards.

FAQ
- What are Merlin's elements and weapons?
- Three weapons, three elements: Grimoire is Cold/Ice, Wand is Lightning, and Staff is Fire. She's built around the Tag Skill — stack a Frost Mark or her debuffs, then Tag-switch for a large hit. She's the first hero to span three damage elements.
- Is Merlin's kit data or rates confirmed?
- No. The livestream only showed gameplay. Skill multipliers, banner rates and potential values were not revealed and arrive with the Version 1.5 Update Details notice. Everyone can test her free in the Merlin Trial event once the patch is live.
- How does the new raid work?
- Taranis's Sanctuary is a weekly co-op raid for up to 5 players, Abyss difficulty only. You can claim rewards up to twice a week for ~500 Star Fragments each (≈1,000/week), and it uses its own dedicated key — cube keys don't apply.
- What's the biggest quality-of-life change?
- Two things: field elite monsters no longer cost cube keys, and cube keys now open a double reward (two different random drops). The hosts repeatedly called these the defining changes of 1.5. SR Magic Crystal Shards can also convert up to SSR for easier weapon limit breaks.
- Should I delete my old dungeon materials?
- No — hold them. After maintenance you can exchange old dungeon materials 1:1 for the new Boss Challenge materials, and recipes are updated accordingly. Deep Spider Nest, Ferzen Mines and The Capital of the Dead close temporarily and return later in raid format.
