Raise NPC friendship fast — the relationship tiers, which gifts each companion loves, exclusive journals and the full befriendable roster.
39 companion NPCs live across the world, and each one has a friendship track that climbs from level 1 to 100 across 10 named tiers. The fastest way up is gifting: every NPC loves one gift category (×1.25), and the 18 Special NPCs each have a unique Journal gift (×2) that grants 2,400 friendship. Match the gift to the NPC, spend the Journals on the right person, and level Travel buffs along the way. See the companions database for the full roster.
How friendship works
Friendship is a per-NPC level track. You raise it by talking, completing their tasks and — mostly — by giving gifts. It runs from level 1 to 100 (218,059 total friendship at the cap), split into 10 named relationship tiers.

- Gifting is the main driver.
Each NPC reacts to a preferred gift category with a ×1.25 bonus, and their personal Journal gives a ×2 bonus — pick gifts by what the NPC likes, not by rarity alone.

Crossing into a new tier (A New Face → Treasured Above All) unlocks new talks, friendship rewards and sub-ranks (Bronze/Silver) at the top of the curve.
- Companions assist your Travel.
Befriended NPCs feed the Adventure / Travel system — its own Bond Odyssey mode — where higher friendship means stronger node bonuses and extra reward rolls.
Gifts NPCs love
Universal gifts come in four categories — Flowers, Valuables, Commodities, Books — each with three rarities. The friendship granted scales with rarity: Legendary +2,400, Epic +800, Rare +160. Give an NPC a gift from their preferred category for the ×1.25 bonus on top. Every gift below is a real item — browse them in the items database.
