Versus auto-battlers (Teamfight Tactics & co.)
Shared DNA
Teamfight TacticsThe combat is an auto-battler / auto-chess: you build a board, units fight automatically, and Trait/Aspect synergies reward committing to shared tags — the loop TFT players will recognise immediately.
The twist
Open-world layerNexus Anima wraps the auto-battler inside an open-world creature-collector with exploration, bonding and side activities — so it is not a pure lobby-based competitive auto-battler. Some coverage even asks whether it is "too casual" for genre veterans.
Versus creature-collectors (Pokémon & friends)
Shared DNA
Pokémon / PalworldYou collect creatures (Anima), bond with them and build a roster — the collect-and-raise hook that invites Pokémon and Palworld comparisons.
The twist
Auto-battler combatYou do not directly control your creatures in a turn-based duel; they fight autonomously on an auto-battler board, and team power comes from synergies rather than per-monster movesets you pilot.
Versus the other Honkai games
Same universe, new genre
5th Honkai titleIt is the fifth Honkai-series title and reuses characters from Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai: Star Rail (Kiana, Blade), but it is HoYoverse's first major auto-battler — a strategy/creature-collector rather than an action game (HI3rd) or a turn-based RPG (HSR).
