Escanor SSR
The actually-played support shell around Escanor Axe — read from live community teams, explained by the kit data.
Escanor on the Axe is a Max-HP Fire hyper-carry: Sunspot stacks into Flare (+50% Fire damage, +25% Max HP), and Cleansing Fire adds 30% of a Fire-Burst target's remaining HP. He does not want raw combo payload — he wants a support shell that resets his cooldowns, feeds his Magic, keeps Fire Burst on the target and amplifies Fire. This guide takes the team straight from what the community actually runs (the 30 most-popular live Escanor teams), then explains every pick with the heroes' own kit data.
- Escanor — Axe / Fire
- Mannie
- Guila

- Played meta, not theory
The team people actually run — and why it works
Reality check first: of the 30 most-popular community Escanor teams, 23 run him on the Axe — and in those 23 Axe teams the partners are Mannie (17), Guila (14 across her weapons) and Daisy (11). Drake and Howzer — the heroes with the biggest numbers in Escanor's raw Combined-Attack table — show up once each. The played meta is a support shell, not a combo-payload race, and the kit data explains exactly why.
Escanor Axe is bottlenecked by three things: he must spam Prideful Line to reach Flare, his Ultimate eats all his Magic, and his big bonuses only fire on a Fire-Burst target. Mannie's Flash Explosion resets every ally's Normal Skill cooldown (instant Prideful Line again → faster Flare), her passive refills Magic and adds +30% Ultimate damage; Guila's Shield passive gives the whole team +30% Fire damage while her barrier is up and her Fire kit keeps Burn/Fire-Burst on the target; Daisy stacks team Crit Damage and strips enemy Crit Defense. Every member removes one of Escanor's bottlenecks.
So the flagship is Escanor (Axe) + Mannie (Staff) + Guila (Shield or Rapier) + Daisy (Book). Run it if you own Escanor on the Axe — it is the real, most-played configuration and it is mechanically the best supported version of his Flare loop. The pure Combined-Attack-number trio (Drake + Howzer) is covered lower down, honestly, as the data-theory it is — not the meta.
Strengths
- Built from real usage: the 30 most-popular live community Escanor teams, not a tier-list opinion.
- Every pick is justified by the partner's own kit data, not vibes.
- Mannie's Flash Explosion resets all allies' Normal Skill cooldowns → Escanor re-casts Prideful Line and reaches Flare far faster.
- Guila's Shield passive Burning Protection grants the whole team +30% Fire damage while her barrier is up, and her Fire kit keeps Fire Burst on the target for Cleansing Fire's +30%-remaining-HP bonus.
- Daisy stacks +15% team Crit Damage and her Ultimate strips 50% enemy Crit Defense — a clean burst window.
- The core is forgiving: Mannie + Guila + Daisy appear together across most popular Escanor Axe teams, so it is well-tested by the playerbase.
Weaknesses
- Escanor-Axe-only — his Greatsword/Sword & Shield paths are different kits and do not run this loop.
- Three SSR supports (Mannie, Guila, Daisy) — this is an invested account's team, not an early-game one.
- Damage is still gated behind setup: Fire Burst on target + Escanor in Flare + Magic banked for Cleansing Fire.
- The raw Combined-Attack table (Drake 461%, Howzer 406%) is misleading here — those numbers are not how Escanor is actually played; do not let the big number bait you.
- Guila's team Fire buff needs her self-barrier active — losing the barrier drops the +30% Fire.
What people actually run with Escanor Axe
Not a tier-list guess — the partner distribution across the 30 most-popular live Escanor teams.
Pulled from the live community team feed: 23 of the 30 most-popular Escanor teams run him on the Axe. Inside those 23 Axe teams the partner usage is overwhelmingly support-shaped — Mannie 17, Guila 14 (Rapier 7 / Shield 5 / Lance 2), Daisy 11 — with a clear second tier of Slater, Tristan, Meliodas and Tioreh around five each. The raw-payload heroes from Escanor's Combined-Attack table, Drake and Howzer, appear once each. The meta is unambiguous: Escanor Axe is built as a supported hyper-carry, not a combo-damage trio.
That is not a coincidence — it is the kit. The next sections show, member by member, exactly which Escanor bottleneck each of these picks removes, all from the heroes' own in-game data.
Escanor-Axe partner usage (live popular teams, this is the meta)
- Mannie — 17 / 23 — The #1 partner by a wide margin. Cooldown reset + Magic battery + Ultimate-damage amp.
- Guila — 14 / 23 — Any weapon (Rapier/Shield/Lance). Team +30% Fire and the Fire-Burst applier.
- Daisy — 11 / 23 — Book support: team Crit Damage and enemy Crit-Defense shred.
- 2nd tier — Slater / Tristan / Meliodas / Tioreh (~5 each) — The most common flex 4th picks across the same teams.
- Drake / Howzer — 1 each — The big Combined-Attack numbers — barely played. The table is not the meta (see the reconciliation section).
Escanor — the Axe Max-HP hyper-carry
Three bottlenecks the support shell exists to remove.
Escanor on the Axe is a Fire Attacker whose damage scales off Max HP. Prideful Line deals 279% and grants 2 Sunspot stacks (max 12); Sunspot is +3% Fire damage and +1.5% Max HP each, converting at max into Flare (+50% Fire damage, +25% Max HP, −20% damage taken). Cleansing Fire hits for 397% plus 30% of a Fire-Burst target's remaining HP, consumes all Magic Points for a further +50–350%, and as a Combined-Attack base grants +30% Max HP for 20 sec. Condensed Sun is a Reaction-immune −30% damage-taken stance.
Read that kit as three needs: (1) he must re-cast Prideful Line constantly to climb to Flare; (2) his Ultimate is starved of Magic; (3) his two biggest bonuses require Fire Burst on the target. The whole point of the played meta is that Mannie, Guila and Daisy each solve one of these — which is why the community converged on them and not on raw combo numbers.
Escanor Axe — the skills the shell is built around (in-game data)
- FirstCondensed Sun
Reaction-immune charge stance, −30% damage taken; charged on a Fire-Burst enemy adds 17% of remaining HP.
- SecondPrideful Line
279% and +2 Sunspot (max 12). The skill Mannie's reset lets him spam to reach Flare faster.
- UltimateCleansing Fire
397% + 30% of a Fire-Burst target's remaining HP; consumes all MP for +50–350%. Magic-hungry — Mannie refills it.
- PassiveSunspot Explosion
Attacking grants Sunspot (max 12) → Flare: +50% Fire damage, +25% Max HP, −20% damage taken.
Mannie — the cooldown & Magic battery
The single most-used Escanor Axe partner, and the kit shows exactly why.
Mannie on the Staff is the most-run Escanor Axe partner in the live data, and it is the cleanest fit in the game for his bottlenecks. Her Ultimate, Flash Explosion, resets the Normal Skill cooldowns of all allied heroes — that is Escanor's Prideful Line back instantly, so he climbs Sunspot → Flare dramatically faster. Her passive Dragon Priestess restores 15 Magic Gauge on her Normal Attacks (directly fuelling Escanor's all-Magic Cleansing Fire) and adds +30% Ultimate Move damage when an ally attacks a Punishment-affected enemy — and her Holy Judgment applies Punishment. Priestess's Blessing grants allies Draco Priestess: +30% Crit Damage and +25% Magic Charging Efficiency.
Cooldown reset, Magic refill, +30% Ultimate damage, +30% Crit Damage: she removes Escanor's two hardest constraints (Prideful Line uptime and Magic) at once. This is why she is in 17 of 23 popular Axe teams.
Mannie Staff — why she is the #1 pick (in-game data)
- FirstPriestess's Blessing
Allies gain Draco Priestess: +30% Crit Damage and +25% Magic Charging Efficiency for 15 sec.
- UltimateFlash Explosion
Resets the Normal Skill cooldowns of all allied heroes — Escanor re-casts Prideful Line immediately.
- PassiveDragon Priestess
Normal Attack restores 15 Magic Gauge; +30% Ultimate Move damage vs a Punishment-affected enemy.
Guila — team Fire buff + the Fire-Burst applier
Played on any of her weapons; she is the reason Escanor's Fire-Burst bonuses are always live.
Guila is the genuinely missing piece a pure-payload reading skips. She is all-Fire, and two of Escanor's biggest numbers — Cleansing Fire's +30% of remaining HP and Condensed Sun's charged bonus — only trigger on a Fire-Burst target. Guila supplies that: her Rapier passive Prominence inflicts Burn and applies Fire Burst, and her Shield passive Burning Protection increases all allied heroes' Fire damage by 30% while a barrier she applied to herself is active. Her Shield Ultimate, Radiant Explosion, additionally makes enemies take +20% Fire damage. Across the live teams she appears on Shield (the team +30% Fire / Taunt-tank version), Rapier (Burn/Fire-Burst battery) or Lance.
+30% team Fire damage, a reliable Fire-Burst on the boss, and +20% Fire taken — Guila turns Escanor's conditional bonuses into permanent ones. That is why she is in 14 of 23 popular Axe teams regardless of which of her weapons the player favours.
Guila — the Fire synergy (in-game data)
- Passive (Shield)Burning Protection
All allied heroes gain +30% Fire damage while a self-applied barrier is active.
- Ultimate (Shield)Radiant Explosion
Enemies in range take +20% Fire damage for 10 sec.
- Passive (Rapier)Prominence
Applies 2 Burn stacks and Fire Burst when she activates Fire Burst — keeps Escanor's bonuses live.
Daisy — crit support, plus the real flex options
The third core pick, and the 2nd-tier heroes the community actually rotates into slot 4.
Daisy on the Book is the third most-used partner. Her Shocking Awakening increases allies' Crit Damage by 15% for 40 sec, and her Ultimate Fruit Barrage decreases enemy Crit Defense by 50% for 10 sec — a stacked crit-burst window dropped exactly when Escanor unloads his Flare-state Cleansing Fire. She is pure offensive support, which is what the carry wants in the last core slot.
If you do not own Daisy, the live data shows the real flex pool is Slater, Tristan, Meliodas and Tioreh (around five popular teams each) — not Drake or Howzer. Pick whichever you own; the team builder below lets you test the 4th slot against your roster. This is editorial reading of public kits for the flex only — the Mannie/Guila/Daisy core is what the usage data dictates.
Slot 4 — the real options (live usage order)
- Daisy (Book) — core, 11/23 — +15% team Crit Damage, −50% enemy Crit Defense on her Ultimate.
- Tristan / Slater / Meliodas / Tioreh — ~5 each — The actual 2nd-tier flex the community rotates in; choose by ownership.
- Not Drake / Howzer — Big Combined-Attack numbers but 1 popular team each — they are not the played flex.
Team rotation
Every step uses only mechanics written in the heroes' in-game data.
The sequence chains the support shell into Escanor's Flare window. Nothing here is a fabricated number — each effect is the one listed on the skill.
Opening → burst
- 1 · Guila sets Fire — Guila applies Fire Burst / Burn and raises her barrier so the team's +30% Fire (Burning Protection) is live — now Escanor's Cleansing Fire +30%-remaining-HP and Condensed Sun bonuses are active.
- 2 · Mannie buffs — Mannie casts Priestess's Blessing (+30% Crit Damage, +25% Magic Charging) and applies Punishment via Holy Judgment for her +30% Ultimate-damage passive.
- 3 · Escanor builds Flare — Spam Prideful Line + Normal Attacks to stack Sunspot to 12 → Flare (+50% Fire, +25% Max HP, −20% taken). Bank Magic; use Condensed Sun to survive.
- 4 · Mannie resets — Flash Explosion resets Escanor's Prideful Line cooldown — re-cast immediately to refresh/extend the Flare climb and keep pressure.
- 5 · Daisy opens the window — Fruit Barrage strips 50% enemy Crit Defense; Shocking Awakening's +15% team Crit Damage is up.
- 6 · Dump — Inside Flare, fire the Magic-fuelled Cleansing Fire on the Fire-Burst target: +30% remaining HP, +30% Guila Fire, +20% Fire taken, the crit window — all stacked.
What the Combined-Attack table says — and why the meta ignores it
Reconciling the raw data numbers with what is actually played.
For completeness: Escanor Axe's in-game Combined-Attack table does list pairwise payload values, and by that single number the top partners are Drake (461%), Meliodas (449%), King (433%), Howzer (406%), Elaine (402%). The six verified 3-hero trios are Drake+Howzer, Drake+Elaine, Daisy+Howzer, Daisy+Elaine, Elaine+Gilthunder, Gilthunder+Howzer, all with a base of 397% and a "+30% Max HP for 20 sec" bonus.
An earlier version of this guide led with that table and recommended Drake + Howzer. That was a mistake, and the live usage data is the correction: Escanor Axe is not played as a combo-payload trio because his damage comes from his own Flare/Max-HP loop, not from a partner's Combined-Attack number. The community correctly builds a support shell that maximises his loop (cooldowns, Magic, Fire, crit) instead of chasing the biggest combo digit. Use the table as trivia, not as a team-building rule.
Gearing Escanor for this team
Because the kit scales on Max HP, the carry's gear priorities shift.
Escanor Axe is unusual: Sunspot, Flare and Cleansing Fire all scale partly off Max HP, so Max HP is a genuine offensive stat here alongside Fire damage and Crit — not a pure tank stat. Use the community build tool below to copy a full Escanor Axe weapon + gear + jewelry loadout, and the team builder to lock the Mannie + Guila + Daisy core plus your flex 4th against your own roster.

FAQ
- Why isn't Drake or Howzer in the recommended team?
- Because they are not actually played with Escanor Axe. They have the biggest numbers in his raw Combined-Attack table, but in the 30 most-popular live community Escanor teams each appears once. Escanor's damage comes from his own Flare/Max-HP loop, so the playerbase builds a support shell (Mannie, Guila, Daisy) that maximises that loop instead of chasing a big combo digit.
- Why is Mannie the number-one partner?
- Her kit removes Escanor's two hardest bottlenecks. Flash Explosion resets all allies' Normal Skill cooldowns (instant Prideful Line → faster Flare); her Dragon Priestess passive refills 15 Magic on Normal Attacks (fuelling his all-Magic Cleansing Fire) and adds +30% Ultimate damage; Priestess's Blessing gives +30% Crit Damage and +25% Magic Charging. She is in 17 of 23 popular Axe teams.
- Why Guila on any of her weapons?
- Escanor's two biggest bonuses only trigger on a Fire-Burst target, and Guila is all-Fire: her Rapier applies Burn/Fire-Burst, her Shield passive gives the whole team +30% Fire damage while her barrier is up, and her Shield Ultimate makes enemies take +20% Fire. She turns Escanor's conditional bonuses into permanent ones — 14 of 23 popular Axe teams, on whichever of her weapons the player runs.
- What's the best 4th slot?
- Daisy (Book) is the core third support — +15% team Crit Damage and −50% enemy Crit Defense on her Ultimate. If you lack her, the live flex pool is Slater, Tristan, Meliodas or Tioreh (around five popular teams each). Pick by ownership and test in the team builder.
- Is any of this invented?
- No. The team comes from live community usage (the 30 most-popular published Escanor teams), and every 'why' is read from the heroes' own in-game skill data. The Combined-Attack table numbers are reported honestly in their own section, with an explanation of why the meta does not follow them.
