Merlin — First Look
The Boar's Sin of Gluttony — the first three-element SSR. Cold, Lightning and Fire in one slot.
Merlin, the Boar's Sin of Gluttony, is the new SSR hero of Version 1.5 (June 4). Her gameplay was shown at the official livestream across all three weapons — Grimoire (Cold), Wand (Lightning) and Staff (Fire) — making her the first hero to cover three damage elements, all built around a Frost Mark and Tag-Skill switching. This is a first-look guide: everything below is confirmed by the official broadcast and Seven Deadly Sins canon. Exact skill multipliers, potential priority and banner rates aren't published yet — they're added here on launch day, with no invented numbers before then.

- Cold / Lightning / Fire
- Tag-Skill carry
- Frost Mark
- Preview — June 4
Who Merlin is, in five lines
1 — Three weapons, three elements. Grimoire is Cold/Ice, Wand is Lightning, Staff is Fire — the first hero who can slot into Ice, Lightning or Fire teams from one unit.
2 — She is a Tag-Skill carry. Across all three weapons the loop is the same: build a Frost Mark (or her debuffs), then Tag-switch to cash it in for a spike — over a million was shown in the demo.
3 — Each weapon plays differently. Grimoire = Crit Chance + Freeze channel and a long-range ultimate; Wand = AoE Lightning with Stun and combo synergy (2-cost ultimate); Staff = Fire burst with a free (0-cost) chainable ultimate.
4 — She fills real gaps. A proper Lightning DPS (rare in the roster) and an Ice DPS for Cold-team enablers — exactly the holes players have been theorycrafting around.
5 — This is a preview. Her kit is confirmed, but exact numbers and rates land at launch. For 'should I pull', check the live banner verdict once she's out.
Three weapons, three elements
Shown live in the trial, one weapon at a time. Exact values come at launch.
Weapon paths
- Grimoire — Cold / Ice — Q raises Crit Chance and, held, channels damage and Freezes the target; the ultimate has very long range. The loop: accumulate attack points fast, then capitalise on Tag-Skill damage. Her Frost Mark pays off big when it's consumed.
- Wand — Lightning — A rare AoE Lightning DPS. Q is an AoE that Stuns; the ultimate costs only 2 and stacks toward E (up to four times for a bigger fourth burst), with combo synergy shown alongside Escanor.
- Staff — Fire — Burst-focused: target-tracking meteor hits, and an ultimate that is free (0 cost, doesn't drain the magic gauge) once you have burst — letting her chain ultimates. The hosts read this as the biggest single-hit burst of the three.
Special weapon, engraves & skin
- Special weapon — Gluttonous Soul Grimoire — Boosts Cold attack when using a normal skill and increases Tag Skill — doubling down on her Frost Mark + Tag-switch identity. Crafted via new-region Malachite refined into Malachite Alloy.
- Exclusive engraved gear — Adds Crit Damage while her Cold-attack boost is active (Grimoire version); a Wand version supports her combo. Crafted from the new Ferocious Watcher set. (Its in-game name lands with the launch data.)
- Exclusive skin — Morning Star Aldan — Her sacred treasure — the orbiting magic orb she carries in the original series — via the exclusive skin draw. The bundle also includes an SSR Magic Shard, a Radiant Potion of Charm and a Legendary Spell Bead.
Early team directions
Floated by the hosts at the reveal — speculative until the live kit data confirms numbers.
No team here is a locked, data-proven comp — the exact buffs/debuffs aren't published. These are the directions the broadcast and community are pointing at, useful for planning who to raise.
- Fire — Staff Merlin + Escanor — Her Staff burst (and any debuffs she applies) is expected to feed Escanor fire teams, bringing Guila's Sword & Shield back as a support body. A burst-into-Meliodas line was also floated.
- Lightning — Wand Merlin — She finally gives Lightning teams a real DPS. The Wand's skill-spam loop pairs naturally with skill-looping carries like Meliodas, and a combined attack with Escanor was shown on stream.
- Ice — Grimoire Merlin — A Cold DPS to pair with Cold-team enablers (Clotho's Ice kit wanted a damage dealer). Jericho and Mannie's new Ice-flavoured engraved sets in 1.5 point the same way.
- Universal — Tag-Skill / burst accessories — Whatever the element, build the Tag-Skill / burst accessory line to enable her Tag-switch spikes.

FAQ
- What are Merlin's elements and weapons?
- Three weapons, three elements: Grimoire is Cold/Ice, Wand is Lightning, and Staff is Fire. She's the first hero to span three damage elements, so one copy can slot into Ice, Lightning or Fire teams.
- How does Merlin actually deal damage?
- She's a Tag-Skill carry. Across all weapons you build a Frost Mark (or her debuffs) and then Tag-switch to cash it in for a large spike — over a million was shown in the demo. The 5-piece burst accessory set enables a ~1,000 Tag-gauge spam loop.
- Which weapon should I use?
- It depends on the team: Staff (Fire) for burst and fire teams (Escanor), Wand (Lightning) to fill the Lightning DPS gap, Grimoire (Cold) as an Ice DPS. The hosts liked Grimoire and Staff most in the demo, but exact numbers aren't out yet.
- Are Merlin's skill numbers and banner rates confirmed?
- No. Her kit was shown live, but no multipliers, potential values or rates are published. They arrive with the Version 1.5 Update Details notice and the in-game data on June 4 — this page is a preview and adds nothing invented.
- Can I try Merlin before pulling?
- Yes. A Hero Merlin Trial event lets everyone test her kit and combos at launch, and it also hands out growth materials including Star Fragments.
