Seven Deadly Sins: Origin Meliodas — Hero Guide

Meliodas is the launch-banner SSR Demon and, like every three-weapon hero, three units in one slot. Unusually, all three of his weapons are Dark Attackers — so the choice is not a role but a playstyle: a Haste/Burst exploiter on Sword, a Demon-Energy teleport bruiser on Axe, or a Demonic-Power sustain-DPS on Dual Swords. This guide reads every line of his in-game data so you know exactly which Meliodas to bring.

The Dragon's Sin of Wrath — one hero, three Dark DPS playstyles.

Meliodas is the launch-banner SSR Demon and, like every three-weapon hero, three units in one slot. The short version

Should you build Meliodas?

Meliodas is the face of the launch roster and one of the most-owned SSRs in the game, so most accounts already have him. All three weapons are Dark Attackers, which means you are not choosing a role — you are choosing how you want to deal Dark damage. Sword revolves around Haste and punishing Darkness Burst, Axe around Demon Energy detonations and full-cooldown resets, and Dual Swords around the Demonic Power / Hellfire engine with built-in healing.

If you only invest in one path, Sword is the most straightforward high-damage option and its Combined Attack is genuinely valuable (it applies Opening, a +50% damage-amp debuff). Axe has the flashiest ceiling thanks to its all-cooldown-reset Ultimate. Dual Swords is the most self-sufficient because it heals and ramps its own Hellfire shred. There is no wrong pick — they are three flavours of the same Dark carry.

Bottom line: Meliodas is worth building, especially as a Combined-Attack enabler that nearly every account can field. Pick the playstyle you enjoy, not the one that looks coolest on paper.

  • Sword pathHaste / BurstCleanest carry, great Combined Attack.
  • Axe pathDemon EnergyCooldown-reset burst spikes.
  • Dual Swords pathDemonic PowerSelf-sustaining Hellfire DPS.

Strengths

  • Three full Dark-Attacker kits in one hero — Sword (Haste/Burst), Axe (Demon Energy), Dual Swords (Demonic Power).
  • Sword Ultimate Blazing Cross hits 449% and +100% extra against Darkness-Burst targets.
  • Sword's Combined Attack applies Opening — the enemy takes +50% Speed Master damage for 20 sec.
  • Axe Ultimate Demon's Fighting Spirit resets ALL skill cooldowns with 3+ Infernal Release stacks.
  • Dual Swords self-heals (Burning Slash restores 90% of Attack) and shreds Crit Defence by up to 50% via Hellfire.
  • Launch SSR — almost every account owns him, so the build pays off immediately.

Weaknesses

  • Building all three paths is expensive — most accounts realistically commit to one.
  • His whole kit is gated behind keeping Darkness Burst up — weak when Burst can't be maintained.
  • Axe and Dual Swords have long cooldowns (Burning Slash 32s, Abyssal Power Smash 25.8s) that punish sloppy rotation.
  • All three paths are mono-element Dark, so he wants Dark-favourable content and Darkness-Burst support.
  • His data lists no verified 3-hero Combined-Attack combos — pair him from real community comps, not a fixed trio list.

Weapon paths

Meliodas swaps the entire kit with the weapon you equip. Pick the path that matches the team you are building.

Sword

  • Sword (1H)
  • Dark
  • Attacker

The cleanest carry: a Haste-driven Dark DPS that punishes Darkness Burst and brings a strong Combined Attack.

  • Abyssal Dash grants Haste (+25% Speed Master damage, +15% Darkness Attack) and resets on Darkness-Burst targets.
  • Passive Speed Master: Normal Skill on a Darkness-Burst enemy deals +200% Attack bonus damage.
  • Ultimate Blazing Cross: 449%, +100% against Darkness Burst, then strips the Burst.
  • Combined Attack (Ultimate base) inflicts Opening: +50% Speed Master damage taken for 20 sec.

Axe

  • Axe
  • Dark
  • Attacker

A Demon-Energy teleport bruiser with explosive cooldown-reset burst windows.

  • Abyssal Power Smash applies Demon Energy (detonates for 120% of Attack on removal).
  • Circle Slash teleports behind a Demon-Energy target and resets the Normal Skill cooldown.
  • Passive Strike Master: removing Demon Energy grants Infernal Release (+30% Darkness, max 3).
  • Ultimate Demon's Fighting Spirit: 407%, and resets ALL skill cooldowns at 3+ Infernal Release.

Dual Swords

  • Dual Swords
  • Dark
  • Attacker

A self-sufficient sustain-DPS built on the Demonic Power / Hellfire engine.

  • Passive Spirit Master: 5 hits on a Darkness-Burst enemy → Demonic Power (AoE ticks + Hellfire).
  • Hellfire lowers the target's Crit Resistance and, at max stacks, Crit Defence by 50%.
  • Burning Slash: 267% + 200% AoE, and restores HP equal to 90% of Attack under Demonic Power.
  • Ultimate X Slash - Flurry: 411%, consumes Hellfire stacks for +15% damage each and a crit finish.
Path 1 · Dark · Attacker

Sword — the Haste / Burst carry

The most straightforward path and the one with the most valuable Combined Attack.

The Sword identity is Haste and Darkness Burst. Abyssal Dash grants Haste — up to two stacks of +25% Speed Master damage and +15% Darkness Attack — and its cooldown resets whenever you attack a Darkness-Burst target, so against a Burst-maintained enemy you can keep Haste rolling. The passive Speed Master is the payoff: landing the Normal Skill on a Darkness-Burst enemy adds a flat +200% of Attack and shaves 2 seconds off the Burst, while Chain Attack's cooldown drops 2 seconds per Haste stack on Burst targets.

His Ultimate, Blazing Cross, hits for 449% and a further +100% against Darkness Burst before stripping the Burst on the final strike. Critically, using it as a Combined-Attack base inflicts Opening — the enemy takes +50% Speed Master damage for 20 seconds — which is why Meliodas is such a common Combined-Attack opener even on teams that don't otherwise run him.

Path 2 · Dark · Attacker

Axe — the Demon-Energy bruiser

A teleporting burst path with the flashiest ceiling: full cooldown resets on the Ultimate.

The Axe loop is Demon Energy. Abyssal Power Smash is a chargeable hit (140% / 302%) whose Darkness projectiles apply Demon Energy, a debuff that detonates for 120% of Attack when it is removed. The passive Strike Master turns that into an engine: re-applying Demon Energy to an already-affected enemy instantly detonates the old one, and every removal grants Infernal Release (+30% Darkness damage, up to 3 stacks). Circle Slash teleports behind a Demon-Energy target, hits for 184%, removes the Demon Energy and resets the Normal Skill cooldown.

The payoff is the Ultimate, Demon's Fighting Spirit: 407% damage, and with 3 or more Infernal Release stacks it resets ALL skill cooldowns — enabling back-to-back burst windows. It is the highest-skill, highest-ceiling Meliodas path.

Path 3 · Dark · Attacker

Dual Swords — the Demonic-Power sustain DPS

The most self-sufficient path: it heals itself and ramps its own Crit-Defence shred.

Dual Swords is built on Demonic Power. The passive Spirit Master grants Demonic Power for 20 seconds after landing 5 hits on a Darkness-Burst enemy: while active it deals an AoE tick of 20% of Attack every 0.5 seconds and applies Hellfire. Hellfire lowers the target's Crit Resistance and, at maximum stacks, slashes Crit Defence by 50% — a large self-generated damage amp. Burning Slash adds reliable sustain, restoring HP equal to 90% of Attack while Demonic Power is up.

The Ultimate, X Slash - Flurry, hits 411% and consumes Hellfire stacks for +15% damage each with a guaranteed crit finish; used as a Combined-Attack base it spends all Magic Points to pump Combined-Attack damage by 30% per point. It is the path to pick when you want a Meliodas that survives and scales without external support.

Potential priority

Each path has its own Potential track unlocked with Meliodas's Potential Points (Exchange Shop, server-capped).

Across all three paths the pattern is the same: odd levels (1, 3, 8) are flat Attack / Defense / Max HP, while even levels are the meaningful skill amplifiers. You feel the jumps at the amp levels, so prioritise reaching them.

What the amp levels actually do (per data)

  • SwordLv2 Normal Skill +15%, Lv4 Ultimate +30%, Lv6 Passive +75%, Lv7 Normal Skill final strike +220%, Lv9 Normal Skill +100%, Lv10 Ultimate final strike +350% Attack.
  • AxeLv2 Special Attack +20%, Lv4 Normal Skill +20%, Lv6 Ultimate +40%, Lv7 Normal Skill final strike +160%, Lv9 Normal Skill +70%, Lv10 +100% Demon Energy damage for 10 sec.
  • Dual SwordsLv2 Normal +20%, Lv4 Special Attack +35%, Lv6 Normal Skill +60%, Lv7 Normal Skill final strike +220%, Lv9 Ultimate +50%, Lv10 −1 sec cooldown per Ultimate hit under Demonic Power.
Weapons & skins

Weapon and gear direction

Meliodas's compatible grade-5 weapons and what their passives reward.

On the Sword path, the most kit-coherent grade-5 option is the Gluttonous Soul Longsword: every Normal Skill use grants +9% Darkness damage for 7 sec (max 18%). Meliodas's whole kit is Dark and the Sword path leans on its Normal Skill, so this directly amplifies his core damage. Black Flame Wings (Burst → +28% Attack and +6% Crit Chance for 10 sec) is the universal burst-window weapon available on all three weapon types. Note the Axe-tree Gluttonous Soul Axe grants Fire damage, which is off-element for a Dark hero — prefer Black Flame Wings there.

Notable compatible weapons (data-listed)

  • Gluttonous Soul Longsword (g5)Each Normal Skill use → +9% Darkness damage for 7 sec (max 18%). Best-in-kit synergy for the Sword path.
  • Black Flame Wings (g5)Activating a Burst → +28% Attack and +6% Crit Chance for 10 sec. Available on Sword, Axe and Dual Swords.
  • Crimson Flame (g4)Activating a Burst → +28% Attack for 10 sec — a strong budget option on every path.
  • Jet-black (g4)Using the Ultimate Move → 20% chance of +50% Crit Chance for 7 sec; great with the Dual Swords crit finish.

Costumes

Meliodas ships with the default Ordinary Tavern Owner costume and four grade-5 skins in the data: A New Adventure, The Dragon Sin of Wrath, Simple Defense and Most Malevolent Majesty. His exclusive weapon costume is Demon Sword Lostvayne — the iconic Lostvayne — a grade-5 weapon skin.

Quick answers

FAQ

Which Meliodas weapon should I build first?
Sword is the safest first build — it deals strong Dark damage and its Combined Attack applies Opening (+50% damage taken), which is useful even on teams that don't main him. Axe has the highest ceiling via its all-cooldown-reset Ultimate. Dual Swords is the most self-sufficient thanks to built-in healing and Hellfire Crit-Defence shred.
Why is Meliodas such a common Combined-Attack pick?
His Sword Ultimate, used as a Combined-Attack base, inflicts Opening on the enemy — they take +50% Speed Master damage for 20 seconds. That is a strong team-wide damage window, and since almost every account owns him from the launch banner he is an easy enabler to slot in.
Does the element matter for Meliodas?
Yes — all three of his weapons are Dark Attackers, and his entire kit revolves around maintaining Darkness Burst on the target. He performs best in Dark-favourable content and with teammates who can keep Darkness Burst up.
Who is Meliodas's best Combined-Attack partner?
By the damage values in his data, Drake (461%) is the highest, followed by King (433%) and Howzer (406%). His own Combined-Attack base hit is 449% and it applies the Opening debuff. His data lists no fixed 3-hero combos.
What does his world passive do?
Captain's Acumen allows double jumps and wall runs. It is a pure traversal/mobility tool for exploration and dodging mechanics — it has no combat effect and does not change his damage.
