The short version

Should you build Gilthunder?

Gilthunder is a free SR Thunder specialist whose value is built around Shock, Paralysis and Lightning-Resistance shred. He is not an endgame damage headliner — his stats and multipliers are SR-tier — but every weapon gives him a distinct, well-defined role inside a Thunder composition. One-Handed Sword is a Shock-stacking Buster: it extends Shock duration, cuts its own Special cooldown off Shocked enemies, and on Lightning Burst its passive shreds enemy Lightning Resistance by 15%. Shield is a defensive Warden: a Taunt-and-damage-reduction stance, a team Barrier on Judgment, and an 8-second Bind on the Ultimate. Lance is a Paralysis Attacker: it Paralyses Shocked enemies (which itself cuts Lightning Resistance by 15%) and its passive Burning Lightning grants +25% damage against Paralyzed targets.

If you only invest in one path, match it to your team: One-Handed Sword for a Thunder composition that wants resistance shred plus Shock pressure, Shield for raw survivability with a team Barrier and a Bind, or Lance for the highest personal damage via the Paralysis combo. As an SR he is cheap to ascend, which makes any of his Thunder paths very accessible value.

Bottom line: Gilthunder is worth building as a free, budget Thunder piece — especially One-Handed Sword as a resistance-shred enabler or Lance as a Paralysis bruiser. He will not headline an endgame team, but he is an accessible utility/attacker hybrid while you build toward premium SSRs.

  • One-Handed Sword pathThunder BusterShock stacking + Lightning-Res shred.
  • Shield pathThunder WardenTaunt stance + team Barrier + Bind.
  • Lance pathThunder AttackerParalysis combo, +25% vs Paralyzed.

Strengths

  • Free SR — every account can field him, and he is cheap to ascend.
  • Three full kits in one hero — One-Handed Sword (Thunder Buster), Shield (Thunder Warden), Lance (Thunder Attacker).
  • One-Handed Sword passive Lightning King's Strike: −15% enemy Lightning Resistance for 20 sec on Lightning Burst, plus +20 Burst Gauge per hit on Shocked enemies.
  • Lance passive Burning Lightning: +25% damage against Paralyzed enemies; Lightning Surge Paralyses Shocked targets (−15% Lightning Resistance).
  • Shield Judgment grants all allies a Barrier (10% Max HP, or 15% Lightning Barrier vs a Bound enemy) and the Ultimate Binds for 8 sec.
  • Lance Ultimate Lightning Bolt cuts the Special cooldown by 50% against Lightning-Burst targets.

Weaknesses

  • SR rarity — low base stats and SR-tier multipliers; not an endgame damage carry.
  • Every path is Thunder — his best value needs a Thunder team to pay off the resistance shred.
  • Lance's payoff is conditional — Burning Lightning's +25% needs the enemy Paralyzed, which itself needs Shock first.
  • Shield's damage is low (it is the defensive path); its value is the Taunt, Barrier and Bind, not personal DPS.
  • His combined-attack data ships no team-bonus text — he contributes utility, not a combo debuff.

Path 1 · Thunder · Buster

One-Handed Sword — the Shock-stacking Buster

The pick for a Thunder composition: Shock pressure plus a Lightning-Resistance shred passive.

One-Handed Sword is Gilthunder's Thunder-team enabler. Lightning Divide deals 109% and its first strike extends the enemy's Shock by 3 seconds, while Lightning Sword deals 176% and shaves 1 second off his Special Attack cooldown every time it hits a Shocked enemy — so once Shock is rolling the path keeps its rotation tight. His Ultimate, Lightning Flash, deals 259% and drops the enemy's Lightning Burst Resistance by 20% for 5 seconds.

The reason to run it on any Thunder team is the passive Lightning King's Strike: every hit on a Shocked enemy adds +20 Burst Gauge, and activating Lightning Burst then lowers the enemy's Lightning Resistance by 15% for 20 seconds. Combined with the Ultimate's −20% Lightning Burst Resistance, that is a clean, cheap resistance-shred package from a free SR.

Path 2 · Thunder · Warden

Shield — the Taunt / Barrier Warden

Not a solo carry. A survivability path: a Taunt stance, a team Barrier and an 8-second Bind.

Shield channels Gilthunder into pure protection. Lightning Barrier is a stance that makes him Reaction-immune, cuts his damage taken by 40%, and Taunts nearby enemies for up to 10 seconds; if he is hit 5 times the stance breaks for an 84% hit. Judgment deals 170% and grants every allied hero a Barrier equal to 10% of Max HP for 20 seconds — upgraded to a 15% Lightning Barrier (reflects 15% of damage taken) if the enemy is Bound.

His Ultimate, Shackles of the Lightning King, deals 214%, Binds the enemy for 8 seconds and pulls them toward him — which directly sets up Judgment's stronger Lightning Barrier. The passive Lightning Incarnate cuts his damage taken by a further 10% while a Barrier is active, and when the Normal Skill's Lightning Barrier is removed it shreds 15% Lightning Resistance off nearby enemies for 30 seconds. This is the path to pick when a Thunder team simply needs a durable front-line peel.

Path 3 · Thunder · Attacker

Lance — the Paralysis Attacker

The damage path: Shock → Paralysis → +25% damage, with the highest personal multipliers.

Lance is Gilthunder's actual damage path. Charge Electricity deals 208% and inflicts Shock for 10 seconds; Lightning Surge then deals 135% and Paralyses any Shocked enemy — Paralysis incapacitates the target and cuts its Lightning Resistance by 15%, an effect that persists while Shock is up. His Ultimate, Lightning Bolt, deals 343% and, against an enemy with Lightning Burst active, slashes his Special Attack cooldown by 50%, so the rotation snowballs.

The whole path is gated by the passive Burning Lightning — attacking a Paralyzed enemy increases damage by 25%. That is a large modifier, but it only pays off if you run the Shock → Paralysis chain, so Lance wants the setup but rewards it with both the highest base multipliers in his kit and a self-stacking resistance debuff.

Investment

Potential priority

Each path has its own Potential track unlocked with Gilthunder's Potential Points (Exchange Shop, server-capped).

The pattern matches every hero: odd levels (1, 3, 8) are flat Attack / Defense / Max HP — smaller values here because Gilthunder is an SR — and even levels are the meaningful skill amplifiers. Prioritise reaching the amp levels for whichever path you committed to.

Where the value sits

  • One-Handed Sword first (enabler)If you only ascend one path, the Sword gives the most team value at SR cost — the Lightning King's Strike −15% Lightning Resistance plus the Ultimate's −20% Burst Resistance scale your whole Thunder core, not just Gilthunder.
  • Lance second (self-sufficient damage)Lance carries the highest base multipliers (343% Ultimate) and the Burning Lightning +25% vs Paralyzed; it needs only his own Shock → Paralysis chain, no external setup.
  • Shield last (defensive)Only worth deep investment if your Thunder team specifically needs a durable Taunt front-line plus a team Barrier and the Bind that upgrades Judgment.
Weapons & skins

Weapon and gear direction

Gilthunder's compatible weapons and what their passives reward.

Gilthunder's universal pick is Black Flame Wings (activating a Burst → +28% Attack and +6% Crit Chance for 10 sec), available across all three of his weapon types. On a budget SR, Crimson Flame (Burst → +28% Attack) and Jet-black (Ultimate → 20% chance of +50% Crit Chance for 7 sec) are strong, accessible options. Blazing (attacking a 100%-HP enemy → +20% damage taken for 20 sec) is a solid opener-amplifier on every path. Note Gluttonous Soul grants off-element damage (Earth on Sword and Shield, Darkness on Longsword) for an all-Thunder hero — skip it here.

  • Black Flame WingsActivating a Burst → +28% Attack and +6% Crit Chance for 10 sec. The universal pick across his weapon types.
  • Crimson FlameActivating a Burst → +28% Attack for 10 sec — a strong, accessible option on every path.
  • Jet-blackUsing the Ultimate Move → 20% chance of +50% Crit Chance for 7 sec; excellent on the damage-focused Lance path.
  • BlazingAttacking an enemy at 100%+ HP → +20% damage taken on them for 20 sec — a strong opener amplifier on every path.
  • Thorn of Greed (Lance)+7% damage dealt to enemies taking DoT — pairs with his Shock DoT on the Lance path.
  • Unyielding Spirit (Sword and Shield)+12% Barrier Efficiency — directly buffs the Shield path's Judgment Barriers.

Costumes

Gilthunder ships with the default grade-3 Young Holy Knight costume, a grade-4 skin Exemplary Holy Knight, and two grade-5 skins in the data: Holy Knight of Lightning and Exemplary Adventure. He has no weapon costume in the data.

Quick answers

FAQ

Which Gilthunder weapon should I build first?
One-Handed Sword for most Thunder accounts — it is the cheapest way to add Thunder-team value: −15% enemy Lightning Resistance on Lightning Burst plus −20% Lightning Burst Resistance on the Ultimate. Build Lance if you want his highest personal damage via the Shock → Paralysis → +25% chain, and Shield only if your Thunder team needs a durable Taunt front-line with a team Barrier and a Bind.
Is Gilthunder worth building as an SR?
Yes for his Thunder-team value. He is free and cheap to ascend, and the Sword path's resistance shred plus the Lance path's Paralysis combo are real, accessible utility while you build toward premium SSRs. He is not an endgame damage headliner.
How does the Lance path's Paralysis combo work?
Charge Electricity applies Shock for 10 sec, then Lightning Surge converts a Shocked enemy into Paralysis — which incapacitates them and cuts Lightning Resistance by 15%. While they are Paralyzed, the passive Burning Lightning grants Gilthunder +25% damage, which is the core reason to run the Lance path.
Who is Gilthunder's best Combined-Attack partner?
By the damage values in his data, Drake (461%) is the highest, followed by Meliodas (449%) and King (433%). His own combo base is 259% — solid for an SR, but build the combo around a high-payload carry whose damage his resistance shred amplifies.
What does his world passive do?
Lightning Javelin greatly fills an object's Lightning gauge based on the charge level — an exploration/interaction tool for environmental puzzles and switches. It has no combat effect and does not change his damage.
